Anyone have the info on who are redshirts are for this years football team? I have been looking, apparently not hard enough or in the right places. If someone could let me know, please do!

You're gonna have a problem getting any type of information out of this program. Typically, most redshirting is not decided until a little later in the season as it relates to injury and/or depth at a position. Any true freshman such as Burkhalter or Fenroy, who played Saturday, has lost their redshirt year. For instance, they would like to redshirt qb Hundley, as there are two players at that position ahead of him.Originally Posted by lxa656
Isn't Burkhalter a RS freshman? Fenroy will not be redshirted even though it could still happen (possibly). Most of the freshman linemen will surely be redshirted.Originally Posted by geauxboy
God forbid we have to play QB Hundley.
The only way Fenroy could get a redshirt would be a medical application, since he's already played in a game. At quarterback, I think Morel has to sit out this year as a transfer, so Hundley is the 3rd string QB. Any injury would require he be ready to play. My mistake on Burkhalter.Originally Posted by DestinCajun
Check out the info. below and tell me if it is correct. Please don't misunderstand me - I really do not want to see Fenroy redshirt. He is a big league player and we need him, especially with Chester out. But, a redshirt is still possible.Originally Posted by geauxboy

The practice of redshirting was adopted to protect athletes who were injured. An athlete can claim one redshirt year in the NCAA and still have an additional four years of eligibility.
Currently, colleges will use a redshirt year with freshmen that have little chance of playing with the team in their first year. During a redshirt season, an athlete must meet eligibility requirements. The athlete may practice with the team, but is not allowed to play in any games."
I'd speculate that Deon Wallace, John Hundley, Gerron Blount, and maybe a couple guys like Dustin Miller and Chancellor Roberson along with a couple linemen will redshirt. That's the great thing about this recruiting class...you have players like Fenroy and Derrick Smith that can plug into the lineup right away and still keep uber-talented players like Wallace and Hundley for a year longer while they learn the game this season. No matter the score of the Texas game, things are looking up long-term for this program.
I'm pretty sure I saw Chancellor Roberson in the Texas game.Originally Posted by BrockMeaux
I was very impressed with the play of Fenroy and Smith against the Texas defense. Also, newcomers Rubin and Desormeaux just to name a couple more. I can see Desormeaux spelling JB and giving tired opposing defenses "fits".
Also good to see Lamar Morgan and Justin Taylor back on the field after serious injuries in the past.
Interesting side note to this topic. I was listening to the post game shows from Austin while driving home following the game. One of the comments Mack Brown had was that he wished the NCAA would change the eligibility policy and give athletes a full 5 years of eligibility (vs 4 and a redshirt yr). He stated that the game against us (in particular) would have been a great opportunity to get more young players in game action; but to do so under current regulations would essentially waste a year of eligibility. Can't say that I disagree with him too much on this one. You could still have the medical redshirt policy for players who get hurt and meet the playing limit qualification.
That's what I mean, at this point Fenroy would have to get hurt & be out for most of the season to apply for a medical redshirt. We wouldn.t wish an injury on anyone, but if it does happen, tere is a possibility of a redshirt. If he plays in 3 games, then this is not an option.Originally Posted by DestinCajun
