Thread: Game Time UL vs Texas

  1. Default Re: Game Time UL vs Texas

Oh, you guys... that was ugly.

I wish I could see your games up here.... just heard about this one.

I really don't understand why they would have put the Cajuns up against Texas though..... I don't know how they determine the NCAA schedules but that was just silly.

I only managed to watch up until halftime. I was at Legends and I decided to go outside and get some fresh air. I ended up staying out there until 10:30 lol.

Brian is an excellent cook. He cooked over 24 lbs of sausage. It was excellent.

PC, its just what you do...Our own athletic dept makes the schedules... A big payday helps... We were brutalized tonight..we came away with some positives, though.. We will compete with anyone on the rest of our schedule..

It looks like we came away with a low number of injuries.

I would love to know what game all of you were watching. Yes, I saw encouraging things from our young guys, but 60-3!! We should have been much more competitive than that and I wish others would acknowledge that and stop making excuses. We had poor tackling, no protection, blown coverage, etc....

They beat North Texas last year in their home opener 65-0. They beat New Mexico State the year before 66-7. This 2005 team is as tough, if not tougher, than any team Texas has had in many years. We were as competitive as we could have been, and there was a reason for protection breakdowns and constant QB pressure even when UT rushed only 3 or 4; as much as I love UL, last night's game was the equivalent of Abbeville High playing De La Salle. It was a bodybag game, it was supposed to be nothing more than a bodybag game, and I consider us lucky that we got to see some stars shine in light of the extremely tough competition we were facing and that we only got one injury to Chester Johnson, which won't cripple us because we have lots of depth at running back.

Like a buddy of mine said today. The injury of Chester Johnson might be a blessing in disguise. I love the way our young running backs play. Fenroy is going to be something special & Rubin supprised me last night.

As a matter of fact, I like the play of all of our young players. Our young receiving corps could be the strength of our team pretty quickly.

Bill, ease up... If Brown doesnt screw it up like he usually does, these guys are National Champions...

If you paid attn, you heard the announcers say the even Texas' 3rd teamers were High school all americans...

Score sucked, but if you cant find any positives, then you werent paying attn.

Barring any unforseen injuries UL will compete favorably with everyone left on their schedule..

Again, I did see some positive things but I have already seen some posts that refer to next year. It has been next year for years now! And what gets me about all of this, if you talk to some of the guys on the team, they say that could have gone to major conference schools. Thus, we should be competitive against a school like Texas, if what they say is true. I am completely aware of the incredible depth Texas has and we were clearly overpowered in all aspects of the game. In addition, did anyone notice that NSU beat ULM on Sat.?? NSU has really improved and I hope we don't look past them. I hope we can piece everything together and have a hell of a year because we sure could use it. I think we have the talent, but do we have the heart??

We have gotten some fine recruits that other schools wanted. True.

However, hardly none of those are on the OL are at DT.

My opinion is that we really haven't focused enough in that area in recruiting, or the current staff simply can't get those guys to come here yet.

Whatever the reason, the level of talent and the level of play in these two areas has to improve, or we will always get pushed around and manhandled by not only Texas, but the better teams in our league.

There is no "attitude" on this team. You can't go into battle when your defensive backs are your toughest players on defense.

Stanley smith, Ross Brupbacher, and Tyler Norman had attitude. Even those guys were relatively weak against the run because we were SO WEAK up front.

We need some big uglies that can stand their ground. We might have to wait ANOTHER year or two before that happens.
