Acadiana Outreach Center Seeks Financial Help
A public trust is considering helping financially strapped Acadiana Outreach Center.
Major financial problems at the non-profit organization were discovered a few months ago.
At a Tuesday meeting , Acadiana Outreach officials asked Lafayette Public Trust Financing Authority to consider acquiring the Joie De Vivre housing development.
It's a 16-million dollar project that's designed to create low income housing in downtown Lafayette.
Part of the project is funded from sales tax revenue.
However, Bo Billeaud with Acadiana Outreach says the center can no longer afford to pay its part because of the financial hole the former chief executive officer left them in.
"By the time we got to the bottom of it 98% of the damage financially speaking had been done," said Bo Billeaud.
