Although he was obviously joking as what coach would leave his team in battle, personally I would like to see him do it. I am interested in what kind of response he would get from those folks using university property for a party spot. I know some paid for it but some did not, especially the Greeks. I know of one frat that got a little rowdy last game and none of their group went into the game.

I was just thinking the same thing, Mike. Even the tailgaters and RVers. Although they paid for the spot, if they stay in the parking lot, they are not helping the program. There are others waiting in line for those spots who WOULD in fact get their butts into the stands.

It'd be fun to see him do it!

Lets get Mean Joe Greene back in town to do it...

Lets get Jake to do it!

Lets get Scot Farmer to do it!

I know this won't happen, but I wish a couple of University officials would ride around in golf carts once the FIU game starts. They would have a plat of all reserved tailgating spots and would pass by every single one of them. If there are more than 2 people at a reserved spot not in the stadium, they would mark it down (I say 2 incase that group has people watching the tailgate spot so nothing gets stolen).

Early next week, an official from the University would then send a polite email to all of the reserved spots that had a group of people not go into the stadium. In the email, they could ask what the school could do to get them in the stadium, etc.

When kickoff happens for the Troy game, they do the same thing.

If any of the same groups do not go in to the stadium again, they get a phone call stating that if the group does not go into the North Texas game, their spot will be given to the next name on the tailgating waiting list starting next season.

Again, I know this won't happen but it would be pretty cool if it did. There is no excuse not to go in the stadium. Obviously, there are always general admission tickets available, so the excuse can't be b/c no one in the group has tickets. And if they have money for booze, they have money to buy a $10 ticket.

Someone mentioned earlier about former players passing through and encouraging people to go into the game....that sounds like a great idea....you would have to be a collossal dousche to turn down Jake if he asked you to go in........

Golf carts are not allowed as per the new tailgating rules. LOL

Wow Coach Hud in a way stated a challenge to those folks who attend the festival that occurs on the
grounds of Cajun Field Every Time there is a Home Game. I agree with him if you show up to tailgate get
your tail in the stadium. We are steps away from having a a huge crowd every home game and this team
unlike those of the past have a swagger to them. Somebody brought up the game after the Houston game years back. I brought people to that game I was there for the McNeese Embarrassment hell I got Nervous
when we ran Victory Formation against Nicholls We have ran that play enough. C'mon Get Red....I like the
Black helmets this past Saturday I think because of the victory.

Your right, there not. UNLESS, you have a university approved pass.

And I said a university official should ride around.

In the parking/tailgate area of the people that don't go in the stadium I think that there are probably 90% of the people that don't have tickets and have NO intention of going to the game--only for the party atmosphere---If I weren't a fan I wouldn't blame them! I think T-Bine commented on all the people leaving as the game started----the other problem is the empty seats that belong to ticket holders that don't go to the game---After the first quarter others should be allowed to sit in empty seats (of course if the seat holder with a ticket shows up they have seat rights)----It looks bad to have empty seats in the chair back 50 yard area!!!!

Tailgating has become an event in and of itself as opposed to a pre-game/post-game event. Much of this has been due to the less than stellar performance in the stadium. I love that Hud is challenging those folks to get in the game, and he is putting a better product on the field at the same time. I see things turning around quickly and can't wait to get back to Lafayette for a game!

You are going to have this problem when College Ticketing focuses mainly on Corporate ticket sales.

With Hud winning they will become more valuable and the corporate ticket holders will be more inclined to spread them around so that will help.

I really like your after the 1st quarter ideas.

I agree 100%. Yes it's nice to have the support by those paying for tailgating spots but getting them in the stands EVERY game, buying concessions, etc.... will raise way more money than a one time tailgating fee. If people want a party atmosphere why not go to a bar or have a party at your house?

I think next year the University needs to put together a marketing campaign that doesn't focus on corporate ticket sales. An all out campaign to get people to buy season tickets. Maybe give people a break on tickets if you buy season tickets versus buying them at the gate (maybe they do this already but I'm not aware). And for those that aren't going in the game I believe their tailgating spot should be listed available to the next person on the list!
