Thread: Cajunfield is possible site for WHODAT week 2!

  1. UL Football Cajunfield is possible site for WHODAT week 2!

Just heard on espnnews, that because of the damage to the superdome, it might not be ready in 3 weeks, and they listed Lafayette, LA as a possible alternate for the saints week 2 home game. Cajuns on Saturday, Whodat on Sunday. There will not be any light drinking on that weekend!

that would be AWESOME!!!!! I hope it's nationwide coverage so I can catch it here in Chicago and brag to all my friends about how awesome Cajun Field is. Either way, Turbine, would you be so kind as to post some pictures and video clips so I can see how it was?

    God Bless.

p.s.- I couldn't find a basketball schedule so I'm gonna ask y'all: Are there any UL home or close-by away games during Christmas break? I'll be back for almost 4 weeks and wanna catch some games for sure. What about women's basketball? Any other sports?

Here's what I know from the time period that approximately coincides with the break. These are either at home or close to Lafayette:

Tue. Dec. 13 at Louisiana Tech
    Thur. Dec. 15 CHARLOTTE
Sat. Dec. 17 at Louisiana State
    Thu. Dec. 22 McNEESE STATE
    Mon. Jan. 2 GEORGIA STATE

I would think Cajun Field would be a last resort for the Saints because of our game on Saturday. If we have rain during our game, the surface will be unplayable for the Saints on Sunday. They may look more towards Shreveport or even San Antonio.

That's all good, but do you really think they will settle for only 31,000 ticket sales? Don't think so. We're definitely a last resort.

31,000 for a Saints game. At this point I think they would take that. Their hometown fans are scattered and might not be able to return home for some time with the levee breach and consequent flooding. Acadiana made it through mostly unscathed and would be able to support the team ($$$). I believe most of the people in Shreveport are really Cowboys fans so that pobably wouldn't work for them either.

Write-up in the San Antonio paper this morning about the game possibly moving here. What what I gathered, there have already been initial talks. I'm sure the city would welcome an NFL "real" game. They've never had anything but pre-season games before. Personally, I think Tiger Stadium would be the first choice due to proximity to Saints fans, etc. Agree with others that 31,000 seats is the primary reason you will NOT see this game in Lafayette.

I doubt that they would be able to sell out Cajun Field.

...unless they were playing the Panthers.

Tiger Stadium is a logical choice for Saints fans. Yet, from what I am hearing most of the Saints fans will be busy for the next couple of months. The Saints will find a very different fan base.

Come to think about it. Isn't Benson really from San Antonio? I remember him blackmailing Foster and threating to move to Mississippi. Could he really use this as an excuse to move to Texas. I wouldn't view it as any loss. We have more important things to worry about and the deal with this organisation has really been a drain to our state.
