From the Bird's Nest: To Beat Nicholls State

Vegas Insider finally came out with a line in the last hour.

UL -24.5

Wow. When was the last time we were more than 3 TD favorites? As much as I'd like to see a 45-3 pasting of Nicholls, what have we done offensively to be 24.5 point favorites against anybody? That being said, I could envision a 300 yard rushing night, and of course, the weekly pick 6 getting it done. I hope we cover the spread, but more importantly, let's go get a win!!

While I would love nothing better than to come out blazing and post 40+ points, I don't see it happening with our offense in its early season funk. As adamant as I was last week about easily taking UL and the points as I felt they would win, I'm not buying that we will cover that spread. I'd love nothing more than to be wrong but I don't think we're there yet with the offense to warrant such a spread.

1st game against a top 10 team
2nd game in the worst weather I have ever seen
3rd game at home with great weather and lower tier division 1AA, or whatever they call them now.
