Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns have work to do before they can contemplate the school's first winning season in a decade.

Coach Rickey Bustle's 2005 squad had its first two-a-day experience in full pads on Saturday, and the inconsistent results had the coaches steamed.

"In two-a-days, you never stay the same," Bustle said. "You either get worse or you get better, and we didn't improve today. We've had a good week of practice, then all of a sudden we put the pads on and we have problems.

"It's tough, but you've got to find a way to get through it. Some individuals gave in to it, so as a team we didn't get better. You may not run as fast because you're tired, but you don't have to loaf. You don't have to quit."

During one special teams drill, a Cajun linebacker didn't respond quickly enough to a call to action and was quickly admonished and sent back to the sidelines.

The Cajun defense has dominated the last two days, including Saturday afternoon's middle drill session when running room was at a premium.

Caleb Rubin had a solid gain on a sweep behind the blocking of Justin Venable on one play, and freshman Tyrell Fenroy fought for yardage up the middle, but there wasn't much other success.
