Dozens apply for Lafayette superintendent

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - More than two dozen people have filed applications to become the next superintendent of Lafayette Parish public schools.
The Advertiser reports the deadline to apply for the job was 11:59 p.m. Monday. A vetting of resumes will narrow that number to 10, with interviews to follow in October.
The Lafayette Parish school board is looking to find a new superintendent by its Dec. 7 meeting, before current Superintendent Burnell Lemoine's contract expires at the end of December. Lemoine announced in May he would step down.
