I spent my summers with Bo (his mom and 3 brothers) in Columbus, Ohio as I am his cousin from Georgia (our grandmothers were sisters). I recall all the trophies and awards in his living room -but unfortunately I was too young to tag along with him to the playgrounds, and never got a chance to actually see him play. I also recall a very, very tall visitor at his house one summer they called "Tree" -who of course was his USL teammate.

I have watched this video, and the jump shot video 50 times -and I just discovered them last night !! I would appreciate any info or access to any other video or photos of Bo ????

I spoke with him about 2 years back, and will call him today and let him know about the clips. He claims he's a pretty good golfer -at least over the phone :-)

Watching your cousin Bo was a lot of fun! My first semester at USL (Spring 1973) coincided with Bo's last semester. That team was so much fun to watch! The crowds were electric, the team was great, and Bo was the star of the show! As a student, you had to get there real early to get a seat. About that golf thing, I'd ask him to show me! But as good an athlete as he was, he just might be pretty good at golf too!

I was talking to an old timer a while back who said the X-Move 360 in the video isn't close to being Bo's best.

(Sure glad we have this one though)

He said Bo had some where he would finger roll the ball into the basket after the spin.

_ All I can say is WOW! I always heard my parents tell me about when they were students at USL. They'd talk about going to see basketball games in Blackham Coliseum, and watchin Bo Lamar play. But words don't describe what I just saw in that video clip. It makes me wish I could travel back in time just to see him play. Don't get me wrong, I'm 22, have grown up all my life going to Cajuns basketball games, and have seen my fair share of good players. But something about that video clip seemed magical. Anyhoo, it was a real treat to see that video clip, and I can only hope that our team returns to its glory days.

USL basketball back then was the best. As students, we used to go to Blackham at 6:00 for a 7:30 game just to get a seat. The excitement was incredible. USL was nationally ranked back then and was actually on the cover of Sports Illustrated, not to mention several articles about us that they wrote. For those of you younger guys that were not around then, you can't imagine what it was really like. Bo Lamar was the MAN and he put USL on the map. Of course, it wasn't just Lamar as we had a ton of talent at every position and high school all americas on the bench in waiting if we hadn't received the death penalty. No telling where we would be today if that hadn't happened. If we can ever recapture that under Marlin, we will again be a national power.

No problem. I just googled bo lamar and pulled it right up. that's actually how i found this board a few months ago. go figure haha

That short video of only 5 or 6 shots doesn't even scratch the surface of Bo Lamar's carreer, but should easily demonstrate why the #10 should never be worn by another Basketball player at UL. This is just a SMALL bit of evidence for those on this forum who were too young (or not even born), to have had the good fortune of seeing this great player play. The same can be said of #14 & #24, Marvin Winkler and Andrew Tony.

My wife and I were students during the glory years of USL basketball, and it was an amazing party! Students would start lining up in the early afternoon for seats and by tip off there was hardly breathing room. Blackham was as roudy and mean a snakepit as there was. Former Northwestern coach Tyne Hildebrand said that he had seen just about everything in Blackham, including rape and murder. Lamar was magic, but as Sports Illustrated said, he may not have even been the best player on the team. Their vote for
that went to center Roy Ebron. Great fun, great times, sad ending.
