I agree...but they are also helpful...like if you wanted to know the likelihood of a 16 seed winning a game in the NCAA men's Basketball Tournament...or how likely it is that the Buffalo Bills will win the Super Bowl. They are equally dangerous when ignored.

didn't say they shouldn't be used....just they are often misused....

If the buffalo bills make the superbowl next year, the four loses from the early 90's will tell you nothing. Now the first two or three from the early 90's sure told you what was likely to happen in the fourth....for the counter arguement though, I present you the Denver Broncos.....

Agreed but when you look at a team that is about to play in a cold weather climate, what would you do? Look at what they have done in the past in cold weather. If you wanted to see how a team plays indoors as compared to outdoors you would look their history of doing so. One could say the same thing for the Super Bowl. As far as the Denver Broncos are concerned...you could make the argument that their Super Bowl success was tied to...John Elway's bicep. Elway had a operation called a Bicep tenotomy in 1997. So you could say...Broncos with Elway pre sugery are a lock to lose the Super Bowl, but post surgery are favored to win.

I agree with almost everything you say here. Your arguement on Elway is bascially my entire arguement. The Broncos lost what 4 superbowls and then played in one against the defending champions, whose franchise had never lost one. No brainer right, Green Bay wins. Damn did I lose money on that one. Or I would have if gambling were legal.

I was rooting for Mr. Elway to win the big one. I thought his entire career would be one snake bitten event after the other(his college career ending on the "The Play" without ever being to a bowl game and his propensity to get skull drug by whatever NFC team is facing the Broncos in the Super Bowl).

Actually, the Giants' defense is WAY closer to terrible than it is to stellar. 32 teams, they rank 27th in yards allowed, 25th in points allowed, and 29th in pass yards allowed. They have a decent pass rush, and NOTHING else on defense. And Eli Manning is a turd. The Giants have a much better chance of losing to the Falcons than making a Superbowl run. I hope you are not a Giants fan and found this post offensive.
