Grand Rapids, MI - After pitching the Burlington Bees to the team's eleventh consecutive win on Monday night, RHP Patrick Green is headed west. The Kansas City Royals have promoted Green to the High Desert Mavericks, the organization's High-A affiliate in the California League. Green will fill move into the Mavericks' starting rotation and replace the injured former Bee Dusty Hughes.
Green leaves the Bees with a 6-7 record and a 4.09 ERA in 19 games and 18 starts. Green has won his last three decisions and the Bees have won his last four starts. The Bees were 11-7 when he started overall this year. In 103.1IP, Green allowed 124 hits and 22 walks while striking out 60. Green joined the Bees from extended spring training on April 16th and made his Bees' debut in relief on April 18th against Kane County. He made his first start at Wisconsin on April 21st and has been in the rotation ever since. The Royals drafted Green in the 7th Round of the 2004 draft out of the University of Louisiana-La.
Green will not be replaced immediately on the Bees' roster, leaving the active roster at 21 players.
