The close range rifle shots are not there in practice, if they were I can’t see him starting against OSU. IT also helps when the recivers are not nervous themselves.
Blaine makes plays in practice because the defense knows the play and he knows when they know the play, and he makes plays in practice because of it. He knows he isn't going to get hit so he can deliver the ball with touch . . . in practice. In a game he never looks rattled -but he is- it just shows up in how hard he throws the ball in short yardage situations.
Masson looks good in practice delivering the ball but not in making plays. His practice sessions are more like a real game if the play isn't there he does what you do in a real game and throws it away. He doesn't appear to be the playmaker in practice that Blaine is. In the game he seems to have matured a lot, last year he would coil up and take a sack. Not this year.
Last example: Last year my pick for QB was McGuire. He is not a choice this year because he has unfortunately been out of the real rotation for to long, but the fact was Brad was not the best practice QB, (Faulkinberry said the same about Jake) but somehow his game nerves turned him into a winner every time. He also has the knack for raising the level of play around himself. Most of all he had great touch on the ball.
You never know how adrenaline is going to affect a QB during the pressure of real game. But rest assured it will affect them, just in different ways.
