I can't get over how football ignorant a lot of our fans are. Fortunately, I think we're going to come out ok regardless. Sure, it's going to take playing the massively lesser teams on our schedule for some of you to pull your heads out of your ass... but the beautiful thing is... that is exactly what's going to happen. OSU is a beast this year. Most people knew what to expect and OSU did not disappoint.
Cajuns-wise, I still cannot make a single assessment until we play (and continually improve due to the lack of Saturday experience between these starters) deeper into this schedule. Nothing whatsoever concerned me regarding the Cajuns performance. OSU will exploit many others in a similar fashion.
Again... when you play a team of the OSU caliber, they can turn off your finest assets. They did that. I do believe we could have done better offensively with Masson, but I'm not the least bit upset that we started and stuck with Blaine for this game. Everything is absolutely "in check" for the rest of this season.
Get over your little girl disappointment and start pulling your head out of your ass. You will like the view a lot more.
As for the game yesterday.....
It is what it is.
The people very upset with the game have not been paying attention. The program was on a downward trend for a couple of years, and Hudspeth has a BUILDING project, not a reloading project. If we have a similar outcome versus a similar team in 2013, then I will be discouraged.
Did anybody see the hits Gautier was taking out there? That guy is a warrior.
Was it Trae Johnson who laid that guy out on special teams?
How will playing Blaine get this team ready for the rest of the year? Blaine is not a good quarterback. He is a great athlete playing quarterback, Masson gives this team the best chance to win IMO. I was a huge BG fan when he signed with us, but after 4 starts he has shown that he has problems progressing through the play and reading defenses. He also has no feel for touch passes which is a main problem with the WR drops.
We are much better off with Masson at the helm, besides next year Broadway will be starting you can count on that.
Jim Everett had that problem with the Saints years ago, strong arm, no touch up close.
A strong arm isn't what it what it's built up to be, especially if you try to use it to compensate for taking to long to make a decision.
The reason it helps the team the rest of the year is . . . IF Hud decides to go with Masson, there will be no QB controversy. IF Blaine plays he has seen the worse and will be better.
We need to let the RBs take the "punishment" and allow a QB to distribute the ball as he should. We have some fantastic playmakers in WR/TEs this year. The QB has got to be able to throw a catchable ball. Chris can do that. I'm very pleased with what we have developing in the RBs. It will become more evident when we hit the SBC play. We cannot rely on a QB that cannot throw a touch pass.
