Q: There are those in town who think the Cowboys will be able to name their own score. With the way this team worked in the offseason is it unrealistic or unfair as fans to expect the UL defense to keep OSU under 40 points?
A: The recipe for beating a team like OSU is making the field as long as possible. OSU is going to make plays. The trick is not to let them make Big plays. Make their drives longer so that it increases the likelihood that you can force them to make mistakes like penalties & turnovers. I know there was more there, but it was hard to hear everything he was saying.
Incidently, this is the same recipe WKU used against Kentucky & nearly won that game.
True. But, they almost won. We are talking about keeping it from being a complete blow-out.
Let's face it... the answer was "coaches speak". "Stretching the field" or "not giving up the big play" are as difficult a principle as "moving the chains" or "hanging onto the ball".
First off, I think you made some great points in your first post.
As far as me saying OSU is greater than UK, just stating that those 2 teams are completely different animals. I took your statement to mean if WKU was able to implement their gameplan against UK, UL should be able to do the same.
IMO, WKU successfully implementing their gameplan was alot easier of a task than what the Cajuns face.
