That is one "worry" I would like to have!

1996 was by far our most impressive schedule and we faired well with a 5-6 record with close losses to Houston and UAB. That win over Texas A&M should have been UL's springboard to a better program and a better conference. We were competing with an beating teams in this and other years like Memphis, E. Carolina, Houston, N. Illinois, Colorado State, Tulsa, UAB, Rice, and Tulane. Instead, athletic funding was cut, we went to the Sun Belt instead of CUSA, and our program has never recovered, UNTIL NOW, under new leadership.

Texas A&M - W

That's an excellent point about that season - how tough the schedule was. I know where ULGrad@HOU is coming from, however, I see "consistency" about like "change". They don't define anything substantitive. We could be consistently horrible. That would be consistent... and not good. Our past football campaigns simply did not have the full undivided support that was required. Those peaks and valleys of inconsistency were attributable to poor UL administrative management of football. That has improved radically.
Improvement is on the way... and we will see signs of it this Saturday. It may not be obvious on the scoreboard and the signs of it will likely be subtle. It is not about anything but "improving" at this point. "Winning" is a result. That result is coming.
I'm going to respond to something you mentioned regarding personnel in another thread.
TT forfeited the 96 game.
UL went 6-5
Even by todays standard "vacated" UL went 5-5
