VERLIN MOORE

Two-time All-State selection for Pompano High's Tornadoes, earning second team honors in Class 2A in 2004 and stepping up to a first team selection following a stellar season in 2005.

Finished a six-game hurricane-shortened senior season with 58 catches for 937 yards and 10 touchdowns.

In his junior season he had 60 receptions for 1,008 yards and 12 scores earning him the first of what would become two All-Broward County selections.

Miami Herald ranked him fifth among receivers in the Miami metro area.

Four-year starter at PHS, he helped lead coach Vince Stephens' squad to the second round of the Class 2A playoffs each of the past two years.

He is also a starter for Pompano's basketball team and runs on the 4x100-meter relay team.

Three-time All-St. Tammany Parish

Two-time All-District 4-5A

In seven games during the 2005 season (lost some games due to Hurricane Katrina), had 57 tackles, 31 solo stops, 12 tackles for loss, 6 sacks and one interception.

HILDEBRANDO RAMOS

Was a two-year starter at Compton Community College in California.

Is a native of Honduras and his family moved to Los Angeles when he was eight.

Currently enrolled at UL for the 2006 spring semester.

Was a two-way standout at guard and defensive end at Manual Arts High in L.A., before playing JUCO ball at Compton.

At Compton, made All-Western Conference at center his sophomore year. Played some at defensive end in goal-line situations as a freshman, but concentrated on the offensive front as a sophomore.

Two-time All-Conference

Pre-season JUCO All-American.

KOREY RAYMOND

Currently enrolled in classes at UL for the 2006 spring semester.

Was rated in Rivals.com's Top 60 junior college prospects this year, and previously signed with Ole Miss in December 2004. However, he was ineligible at Ole Miss until August since he was short one course.

Had 63 tackles including 6 _ sacks and 11 for losses as a senior at East St. John High School in Louisiana. He also had two fumble recoveries, one blocked punt and returned another blocked punt for a 42-yard touchdown as a senior.

Was a Class 5A All-State selection as a senior.

Was a pre-season JUCO All-American, a second team Mississippi All-State selection and was a member of the Jackson Clarion-Ledger's Top 25 JUCO Recruits List.

Posted 40 tackles last fall as a full-time defender at East Mississippi Community College.

MAURICE ROLLE

Led South Plantation High School in tackles in both his junior and senior seasons, averaging 10 stops per game in 2004 and almost 11 during the 2005 season. Also had four interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

Was a three-year letterman for SPHS.

Named All-Broward County second team in 2005 after being named honorable mention as a junior in 2004.

Registered 50 tackles, two sacks, four interceptions, three fumble recoveries and nine pass breakups his senior season.

LAMAR WAITERS

Enrolled at UL prior to the start of the 2006 spring semester

2nd team All-Western State Conference at defensive tackle in 2004 after playing in the offensive front in his freshman season.

Spent the 2005 academic year at Portland State, but did not play football. Has two years of eligibility remaining.

Had 55 tackles, 8 _ sacks, 20 hurries, a safety and fumble recovery in his one season in the Pierce defensive line.

All-Conference selection at defensive tackle in high school and also won his team's student-athlete award.

Had a 3.8 grade point average as a senior at Wellington (Fla.) High School

COLIN WINDSOR

68 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, 6 _ sacks, 3 forced fumbles and 3 fumble recoveries in his senior season.

Senior season accomplishments: 41 catches, 920 yards receving, 12 touchdown catches, 22.4 yards per carry. Was named: 1st Team All-District, 1st Team All-River Parishes, 1st Team All-Metro New Orleans, 1st Team All-State.

In 2004, he was the second-leading receiver on the East St. John team with over 1,200 yards receiving from quarterback Ryan Perilloux.

Last year, the University of Louisiana recruited speed. This year, the Ragin’ Cajuns focused on size. The fifth signing class of coach Rickey Bustle features 21 players, including five junior college transfers. Denham Springs center Ian Burks is one of 16 high school seniors on the list and one of 11 linemen who chose the Cajuns. Burks, 6-foot-2 and 265 pounds, is the son of former LSU guard Michael Burks (1979-82) and the nephew of former LSU linebacker Shawn Burks (1982-85). “He has a great family background, a background in football,” Denham Springs coach Dru Nettles said, “and he’s as good a young man as you’re going to find in terms of hard work and commitment. “I’ve been here for a year, and he’s not missed a day of workouts or practice.” Burks is the smallest of the four offensive linemen the Cajuns signed. Nettles said Burks expects to redshirt. “I think ULL’s picked up a great player,” Nettles said. “He’s an athletic lineman. He was a good two-way player for us. He played defensive end too and played almost every snap.” Burks signed Wednesday morning with the Cajuns. In the afternoon, he went to practice — for the Denham Springs track team. From what I've heard, they are going to move Pirtle to Tackle, along with a couple of other players they are going to shuffle around. Keith Talamo will me moving to devensive end, Chester Johnson will be moving to fullback along with Abdul Levier.

I heard the same thing last month about Johnson and Levier being tried at fullback this spring.

Well, w/ Fenroy, Wallace, and Rubin, I don't think we need another HB. Just keep a steady rotation of those 3 something along these lines:

Fenroy 70%
Wallace 25%
Rubin 5%

I wouldn't, however, rule out the possibility of having a Johnson and Levier combo backfield in short yardage situations. Either that or have Desomeaux, Matt that is, play one of the short yardage backs.

Don't forget the FB Roberson who played as a true freshman last season, he is the only back we have that I know of that has true FB size
