Thursday, February 10, I caught up with with Blue Chip wide receiver Louis Lee (5'11", 170, 4.45) from East ST John High school who I have listed N0.32 on my top 100 list. In 2004 Louis Lee was the second leading receiver on the East ST John team with over 1,200 yards receiving from quarterback Ryan Perrilloux. Ricky Dixon was the leading wide receiver on the team but will play quarterback in 2005 and Lee is expected to be Ricky Dixon's "go to" man. Lee told me that he has a 3.25 GPA and took the ACT for the first time a few weeks ago and is waiting for his test score. He told me that he has been receiving a lot of mail, but most of it is going straight to Coach Dauterive and he is not sure who all he is receiving mail from, but he does know that he is receiving a lot from LSU and Texas A&M. Lee said he would like to take officials visit to LSU, Texas A&M and Tulane. I believe Louis Lee will start receiving much more mail as soon as he has a passing ACT test score.
By noon Wednesday, Rickey Bustle was already headed to the racquetball court, his primary job done earlier than at any point in his University of Louisiana career.
"I need to get rid of some of the stress," the Ragin' Cajun head football coach said.
Bustle didn't have much to stress about. The Cajun football staff had all of its 21 verbal commitments signed and processed for the 2006 recruiting class before lunch Wednesday. The last national letter of intent, from Fort Lauderdale linebacker Fred Davis, whirred off the FAX machine at 11:30 a.m.
"Everyone that was on the boat, stayed on the boat," Bustle said, "and our coaches did a good job of getting those guys to send their stuff in early. It seems like every year we're waiting on one or two to come in, but today they all sent them in early."
Another Fort Lauderdale product, free safety Maurice Rolle, was the first one in, with his letter popping out of the machine at 7 a.m. - the earliest time that players can officially sign the national letter.
By the time Davis sent his letter, UL had received 18 national letters from 16 high school products and two junior college players. Those coupled with three junior college players that enrolled for the spring semester put the Cajuns at 21 signees this year and at 84 scholarship players overall - only one under the NCAA Division I-A maximum.

"The hardest position to recruit is defensive linemen, and for the first time since Coach Bustle's been here they've got a very solid group of defensive linemen. We've traditionally had a solid group of offensive linemen and skill players, but this is probably one of the best classes we've had in quite some time because it shores up the defense."
David K. Fontenot
"The kids they targeted and the areas they targeted, they filled with quality kids. They've got a lot of beef and size but they're pretty quick, too. It's even better that they're all academically eligible. They're academically capable and that's good because the coaches have other problems to fight without having to worry about that. It's amazing what winning can do for you."
Gene Lognion
"I'm pumped, I'm just glad to see we've signed some guys that are at least my size. I think the coaches got who they wanted, and I'm looking forward to big things next year. I think with these guys added to what's already here, we can win the close ones and win the title outright. These coaches have worked their butts off to make that happen."
Mel Credeur
"This class looks really good. I really like the fact that they signed a lot of linemen, which was our area of greatest need. Just looking at the guys that were here, it's an impressive looking group. This was a season where the coaches could go after kids that would fit into the program, and not sign people just for the sake of athleticism."
UL announced its 2006 recruiting class Wednesday on the opening day of the national signing period. The Ragin' Cajun class of 21 players includes:
