I watched both of them one time this year and they are very close in talent level. Trea would be a great fit here but that is only my opinion.

I agree with your point about westgate they do have a lot of talent. I believe Jared Mitchell will either end up at LSU or in MLB. Randell Antoine is a very very good running back but we are loaded at running back for the next few years.

Linebacker is not a concern, other then a mlb.Now if he can play Def.Line or Safety, then by all means sign him.Let's see what happens on signing day.

Does anyone know who else is recriuting Trae? I know his older brother and if he is anything like his brother he is a great guy. His brother is a really big guy so if he takes after his brother maybe we could use him at defensive end. His brother is about 6'3 and 235 pounds solid muscle.

The coaching staff has done an excellent job of trying to keep local talent. If this kid is as good as everybody says he is, then you go get him. I don't care if he fills a specific need. If he is a gifted athlete, a good student and good character guy, and he is local, you get that guy every time. They can find a position for him. I'm sure everybody remembers a linebacker by the name of Ricky Jackson who was very small but had the heart of a lion.

    Just my two cents.

Westgate is loaded with talent. New Iberia senior high has been struggling at just about everything since they have created the two high scools. This is due to the majority of the talent going to westgate high.

I was mistaken in this previous post. I meant Sam Mills, not Ricky Jackson. Sam Mills was only about 5'9" but was one of the best to play the game.

It is my understanding that we have 22 spots for recruits. I know that we had only 16 or 18 seniors but we will sign 22 somehow.

The question is he as good as everyone thinks? If you are trying to improve the talent level on the defensive side of the ball like the last two classes of offensive skill positions, then he is not it.Just my opinion.

What are you basing your opinion on? I only ask because I have not seen the kid play.

Proud we are talking about opinions here,so I tell you mine.I watched two Comeaux games this year,Jamboree and Acadiana High. Now if you are going to raise your talent level, eventually you want athletes better then the ones you have on scholarship now.I also witnessed the Cajun spring game and the fall season as well, and the only athlete that he compares to on scholarship now is Simon. Is not a better athlete then the rest of the kids and Simon is a walk-on.This does not mean he is terrible or that no state school will offer Fitzgerald. But the staff are presently recruiting kids that are more highly thought of then Fitzgerald. We had a similar discussion last spring about a local QB and I argued then that we had Desormeaux and we didn't need that kid to play QB ,and he reshirted at a Div.1AA program this year. Now I don't speak for the staff and if they miss out on some recruits they just might offer him. That's my opinion.By the way, there is a better propect right now in Lafayette that played DB named Williams. He made All-state and some believe he is better then the Andrus kid that signed with Ole Miss. The Cajun staff did not recruit Andrus and I was told they have not offered Williams either.

If the williams kid you are refering to is John Williams from Breaux Bridge he is only a Jr. He is a stud though and he is far better than andrus. He is up there as one of the best to come from Breaux Bridge and that means a lot when you look at the talent that has coem from there.

I understand your opinion about Trea but I disagree. I see him as a much better player than Simon and close to Cutrera. I have watched him play a lot sense his freshmen year and I see a lot of things in him that we could use. He has a lot of heart, will hit you in the mouth, and he wants to be a cajun...I played with his brother Landon and he only played one year of football ball and was arguebly our best defensive player that year. if he can put on weight like his brother and not lose the athletic ability he has now he could play at a much higher wieght than he does now.

All of this is opinions and I'm glad we can have these discussions without someone having to get out of hand about it.
