OT - Bartley Webb - Notre Dame

Some guys from this area that I would like to see UL go after ...

LB - Trae Fitzgerald - plays at Comeaux High and has started for 3 years...he is a big hitter.

QB - Michael McIver - plays at Lafayette High and sure we are set at QB for a few years but you need to recruit a QB every year in case things don't work out with what you have.

WR - Richie Falgout - also from Lafayette High and Michael McIver's favorite target.

OG - Zhamal Thomas - Plays at New Iberia and is rated as rivals # 11 guard in the country also the 6th best player in the state

DT - Jarrod Shaw - from Northside but according to most sources is leaning towards LSU
Nice break down Clutch....Gives me a reason to go out and check out whats happening under the Friday Night Lights!

This year could be fun to watch around town...Lafayette Highs offense will be very fun to watch so I would recommend going out to see them. Also Carencro is always stocked full of athletes...they will be young this year but in the next 2 years they should be able to make a deep playoff run. Comeaux will have a solid defense but they offense will not be very good.
Westgate has the player everyone wants to see Jared Mitchell, he is probably the best athlete in the state. I didn't put him on the list because I think he will be a very high pick in the MLB draft. Acadiana has Jacob Cutura who is an LSU commit but he is highly thought of nationally.
Northside and STM should be fun to watch also and maybe check out the HB from St. Martinville his name slips my mind right now but he is only a Jr but a very good one. I was told STM has a QB this year that is in that same mold Desormeaux or Eraths QB from last year Fouroux...I believe his name is Lance Kelly?

    Enjoy!!!

I know the Cajuns have offered the following:
    Mark Snyder, Brother Martin OT
    Greg Greathouse, Evangel DL
    Jon Bell, Evangel DL
    Kentrell Lockett, Hahnville DE
    Jamarr Garrett, Central Catholic WR

I know there are more, those are the only ones off the top of my head.

WR - Richie Falgout - also from Lafayette High and Michael McIver's favorite target.

Richie is the son of an old drinking buddy of mine. His dad is a UL graduate.

Do you have any knowledge of any of the following:

    C.J. Bailey
    Tim Smith
    Toren Dixon
    Louis Lee
    Russell Wright
    Travius Thompson
    Bryant Turner
    Brandon Thompkins
    Doug Stroud

I've confirmed offers to Lee and Stroud, but that is it. Dixon is due for a breakout year, but the last time I talked to him he did not have an offer. But that was about mid summer I guess.

The other names I'm not too familiar with. They must be from out of state I guess. I basically just keep up with Louisiana kids.

  8. UL Football Is Ben Guidugli (LB) being recruited?

The top senior is linebacker/tight end Ben Guidugli, who was recently offered a scholarship at the University of Cincinnati, where brother Gino was a record-setting quarterback from 2001-04. Ben led the Bluebirds in both receptions and interceptions last year. He is the third brother to play in college, as older brother Jeff was at Southwestern Louisiana. LINK

  9. UL Football Questions on recruits

Were any recruits at the game Saturday? Do you think the win was more of a positive or the rain more of a negative?

PS one more thing. When is fallball baseball?

Well, I'm too darn old to be a recruit; but if I was my thoughts would be:
    (1) Offense - wow, that looked like fun. I want to be part of this!
    (2) Defense - I think I can contribute pretty darn quick.

But then again, I am an eternal optimist.

P.S. Rain? What rain? However, what do you guys (and gals) think of some type of field turf in the future given the propensity for foul weather in south Louisiana?
