UL Football The Book: UL Football Recruiting 2006

    Swamphounds Commitment LIST

    The Class followed by Bios

Well, I'm a big recruiting enthusiast so I'm constantly cruising rivals and scout .com and from the free stuff I've gotten off of those two sights it seems that we've been busy over some pretty high recruits.

off of Scout (which has better of coverage of us) we have offers on the table for a couple of people:

CJ Bailey Moss Point Miss. (3 star)CB
Louis Lee Reserve LA (3 star) Curtis HS WR
Travius Thompson Lauderdale Lakes FL (3 star) WR
Doug Stroud Shreveport LA (1star) OL
Josh Vernon Irving TX (1star) OL
Bryant Turner Daphne Alabama (1star) LB
Brandon Thompkins West Palm Beach FL (1star) CB

The only one that I know about is Stroud, this guy is massive but, I'm pretty sure the SEC has already gotten him round up so he's prolly out of the picture.

From what I can deduce the only one that has interest is CJ Bailey, Brandon Thompkins, and Travius Thompson. The others we'll have to wait and see.

but if you wanna take a look yourself:

Athlon reported the following Top High School Seniors in Louisiana:

Jacob Cutrera Lafayette, LA Linebacker 6'4" 225 lbs.
Jai Eugene Destrehan, LA Defensive Back 5'11" 170 lbs.
Al Woods Elton, LA Defensive Lineman 6'5" 325 bls.
Charles Scott Jonesboro, LA Running Back 6'1" 220 lbs.
Alan Rogers Shreveport, LA Quarterback 6'4" 220 lbs.

Are any of these kids looking at ULA, particularly Cutrera from Lafayette?

Cutrera & Woods have already verbally committed to the dark side!

Everyone on that list will be an LSU signee by the end of the recruitment season. Woods and Cutrera have already committed to LSU and if I understand right Eugene is not far from doin the same.

Alan Rogers is the only one that I don't see signing with LSU but if you don't know what Evangel QB's do in college I'll let you know...they FLOP lol

With the upgrades to the facilities I am hoping those that wait will get to see the TRUE opportunity at UL and sign with the Cajuns!!!

Indoor Practice Facility will be HUGE in recruiting this year, bank on it!!!

So far Rivals lists 7 players as having offers from UL and all of them are at "medium" interest... I expect UL will see alot more when "leftovers mode" kicks in.. thats not a shot at UL.. I'm just saying alot of the 2 and 3 star players are still dreaming of playing for a BCS team... when they see their spots taken by the 4 and 5 star players, they will start looking at mid-majors...

I agree....If we are successful this season, it will aslo help in gaining interest from the bubble players....

    SLII 1901-1921 Recruiting question

who in LFT is being recruited by Notre Dame? Anyone you're going after?

Saw this today in an article about the new ND guy.

Notre Dame needs a Tim Brown-type talent infusion, the reason Weis spent every day on the road from April 28 through May 27 — almost unheard of in coaching circles.

One day, Weis recounts, "I went from Houston, to Lafayette, Louisiana, to Oklahoma City, to Springdale, Arkansas, to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania."

I honestly can't think of any tim brown type talent in Lafayette. Richie Falgout a reciever from Lafayette high is the best receiver I cant think of and I have seen things online that say UL is recruiting him. Cutrara the LB from Acadiana could be a player that would draw the attention of Notre Dame but he is verbally commited to LSU but that could change. Shaw a HUGE DT from Northside could also draw the attention of Notre Dame but I can't think of any Athletes that would draw Notre Dame down here. Now if you go outside of Lafayette and go to New Iberia Jared Mitchell from Westgate High will be a big time recruit this year...he is comparable to Lucas Tayler who signed with Tennesee last year or Early Doucet who signed with LSU in 2004.

I think Shaw must be the guy. I did some research and it looks like the Domers are on his list along with a bunch of the nation's best programs...and ucla, oddly enough. This site only lists offers from ucla and TN, though. Sounds like he'd jump at lsu if they offered. Excellent student, so he'd seem like the kind of kid ND would want, but sounds like he'd only go there as a fallback choice.

Three guys that I would like to see UL go after from Lafayette would be...

QB - Michael McIver - Lafayette High - Great pocket passer...some people will say we have a lot of talent at QB but I think that every year you should recruit a QB because you never know what will happen
WR - Richie Falgout - Lafayette High - Good hands and Michael McIver's favorite target
LB - Trae Fitzgerald - Comeaux High - I have seen him play more than the others because I'm also a comeaux alum and he is a solid linebacker and has also played safety. From what I understand he is being recruited by Air Force which shows that he is a great student.

Athlon's College Football magazine lists the top high school seniors in the country. At Linebacker is Jacob Cutrera of Lafayette, LA (6'4", 225). Does anyone know about this kid? Why is he not more recognized locally?
