Last year everyone we signed had at least 2 stars---I think we had 3-4 with 3 stars---I don't think Matt will have any but great bloodline, etc. I talked to Mike about him one time and he thinks he is damn good!!!Originally Posted by RaginEsquire06

I met Matt at the ULM game in Monroe; and I liked the desire he had to come to ULL. He apparently had a couple of offers from other schools, but seemed really intent on teaming up with his brother again. I personally think Matt will bulk up and play somewhere on defense. Possibly Linebacker or Defensive End. For sure he has the Desormeaux blood lines with his father being a tight end at LSU and big brother being the back up to Babb. The Desormeaux's have a deep love for athletics and I know Matt will be a big boost to the Cajun football team. Best of Luck to Matt and the rest of the Gridiron Warriors.Originally Posted by Boomer

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajun football team has kept things within the family in obtaining its first verbal commitment for the 2006 recruiting class.
Catholic-New Iberia fullback Matt Desormeaux, a 6-foot-1, 210-pounder and a two-time All-District 6-3A selection, gave UL head coach Rickey Bustle a verbal pledge Tuesday evening.
"It was so close to home, that was the big thing," said Desormeaux, who helped lead the Panthers to a 9-1 regular-season mark and the 6-3A title. "I wanted to stay close to home. It's nice to be able to get home when you want to."
Carrying more weight in his decision, though, was having older brother Michael Desormeaux already on the UL squad. Michael, a redshirt freshman quarterback this year, started four games and saw significant action when returning starter Jerry Babb injured his shoulder, and the older Desormeaux finished as the Cajuns' second-leading rusher.
"I've wanted to play with him again ever since the Parkview Baptist game his senior year," said the younger Desormeaux, who was a sophomore in Michael's senior year at CHNI. "It'll be amazing. He told me to go where I felt I should go and do what felt right."
"He's very different from his brother," said Catholic head coach David Comeaux. "Michael is such a great athlete and has such a great mind for the game at the quarterback position. Matt is more of the animal type, a pure football player, very physical and very aggressive. He's got more heart than just about any player I've ever coached."

That is the kind of stuff that I like to hear about a recruit!Originally Posted by NewsCopy

We've had so much trouble trying to find a nickname for Fenroy; but this one should be easy, "Animal".Originally Posted by RaginRash

Its been a whiel since Ive been this geeked up about UL football!
The list is growing on the number of recruits we're going after and the number of them interested in UL. It seems we're now hot on a 2 star CB that has a high interest in UL. This is a list of all the players we're recruiting according to this site. The cornerback is the second one on the list, Brandon Thompkins seems like a great player to pick up. http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=345&p=9&c=4&yr=2006
looks good so far.
Last year we had all 2 and 3 star players!!!! I realize that we have different opinions about talent level----Coach thought that Cherry and Fenroy were 3 and not 2 stars---I agree!!!!Originally Posted by TheFan
