I have often wondered, since Defensive Linemen are so hard to come by, why we don't go to a 3 - 4 defense. Then, we only need 3 down linemen and we have 4 fast, mobile linebackers. To play a 4 - 3 with 240lb. defensive ends and a 270 lb. defensive tackle. You can't control the defensive line of scrimmage against 300 lb. linemen and a 260 lb. tight end.

    Excellent point.

because you need tight LB's in a 3-4 and i know you've seen our LB's. that should be enough said. Plus you need other things that UL dont have . . I guess ...

But UL could probably beat a Les Miles coached team...

a better idea i think would be to run a 3-3-5 because with the amount of talent we have in our defensive back field we could play to our biggest strength and get our athletes on the field.

I go to Saint Thomas More and saw this guy play Friday night. He had a relitivly quite night, but the guy is HUGE! He didn't make many tackles, but that is because we double teamed him the entire night and that opened up opperunitites for there LB's. This guy has the potential to be great. I would love for UL to make a run at him.

    UL 1984, 1999 . . . . Recruiting for UL

Here's a list that I found of some players we're looking at and have offered. A couple of 3 stars on that list.

Interesting site, but it raises a few questions. #1, why haven't we offered all three 3-star prospects? #2, why haven't we offered all 3 players listed as having "High" interest? And #3, why do we have all of those WR/QB prospects and so few lineman (especially DLs) listed? I realize this NOT the official list of the coaching staff. It is only a speculative website for the sake of discussion. But with our obvious need for defensive help (tonight's effort notwithstanding), it seems we would have a larger number of prospects listed on that side of the ball. We really, really need to do some major recruiting in that area. (Understatement key off) ;>)

I understand we will only have about 13 scholarships to offer, so they are probably not going to make an offer on some of these guys until they are sure he has a genuine interest in coming here. I think they hope to be signing 7-8 linemen between the defense and the offense. I would think we could use some speed in the secondary as well. I think they will look for a place kicker also, but they may try to find a preferred walk on for that. Signing one or two wide receivers is probably also a good idea.

About the place kicker job for next year, what about Edminston? He should be a sophmore next year, I haven't heard anything about him lately.

    Redshirting.

Healing up his ankles from a couple of sprains in practice

Had strep throat earlier in the week so Bustle had him stay away from the team late in the week.

He was over it by yesterday and got to tailgate for the first and last time in a long time. Or at the very least he got to walk through the tailgating area.

UL Football Matt Desormeaux Commits to Louisiana

JUST GOT WORD FROM A RELIABLE SOURCE THAT COACH BUSTLE & STAFF
OFFERED A FULL RIDE TO CHSNI RUNNING BACK MATT DESORMEAUX, BROTHER TO PRESENT UL QB MIKE DESORMEAUX. I THINK IT WAS A VERY
WISE DECISION, MATT WILL BE A GREAT ADDITION TO THE PROGRAM.
