I trust our coaching staff (and I know these rating services are FAR from infallible!), but I don't understand why so many of our commits have zero stars. I thought this year we were going after QUALITY over quantity. Again, not to put down ANY of our commits (they might all turn out to be superior college players), it just seems strange we only have something like six 2 stars while others (even North Texas and Ark. State seem to have many more. Enough with the late night rant!
The reason the Cajun recruits don't have stars or are rated is because there is no Cajun Rivals site, and no Cajun dedicated Rivals reporter. For Iowa State, when the Cyclones get a commitment from a prospect, the Iowa State board reporter will go to bat for the prospect and try to get the prospect rated higher because of factors such as: multiple reported offers, big time programs interested in the prospect and camp showings. Since the Cajuns don't have a Cajun Rivals reporter there is no one to put in for rankings. Also, Cajun recruits aren't checked in on as much until it's announced they have visited a program or have committed somewhere. It's not to say that they aren't very good players in their own right, they just fall through the cracks because they aren't nearly as advertised as other recruits.

All that being said, all you have to do is look at who was the best freshman runningback in the Cajun's class last year. Wallace was a 3 star and ranked pretty highly, Fenroy wasn't ranked, and I don't believe he was in the database until a week before signing day. That's not to say that Wallace isn't a very good player but just shows that stars and rankings can be off. Stars and Rankings are nice, but it's production on the field that really counts.

The EHS football team had a successful 2005 season. The Gators were district champions for Class 6A District 11. The team was undefeated in regular season play and earned a 1 and 1 record in playoff competition.

They have a recruiting party. Last year it was at the convention center. They showed video of all the recruits. They had a raffle for things like a helmet signed by former players etc. They put on a really nice event. Cash bars and snacks.

Good points! I really know that, but it just seems annoying that so many programs in our general "neighborhood" (aka mid-majors) appear to be getting much better recruits (admittedly based on the questionable Rivals star system) than we are getting. I know the proof is in the pudding, so we will have to see how these guys pan out in a few years. I know even the BCS schools get burned all the time by the recruiting status game (ie, 5-star busts). It is also an admittedly (dang, I've used that word twice in the same paragraph!) inexact science, not unlike the NFL draft! And we all know how that has turned out! BTW, how are the Cyclones doing this recruiting season? Best of luck to them.

It would be great to see 3 -4 stars across the board, its not necessary.

I know ... I know. Just thinking out loud. My competitive nature sometimes gets the better of me. I want us to be ahead of our rivals in the recruiting game, too! Like I said, I trust the coaching staff to decide who has the potential to fit into what they are trying to do. In any event, it'll usually take a few years before we can tell who can be a playa, and who can't. Sometimes you get lucky and some freshmen will step up big-time (like Fenroy!).
