The question is he as good as everyone thinks? If you are trying to improve the talent level on the defensive side of the ball like the last two classes of offensive skill positions, then he is not it.Just my opinion.Originally Posted by cajunproud

What are you basing your opinion on? I only ask because I have not seen the kid play.Originally Posted by CajunGuru
Proud we are talking about opinions here,so I tell you mine.I watched two Comeaux games this year,Jamboree and Acadiana High. Now if you are going to raise your talent level, eventually you want athletes better then the ones you have on scholarship now.I also witnessed the Cajun spring game and the fall season as well, and the only athlete that he compares to on scholarship now is Simon. Is not a better athlete then the rest of the kids and Simon is a walk-on.This does not mean he is terrible or that no state school will offer Fitzgerald. But the staff are presently recruiting kids that are more highly thought of then Fitzgerald. We had a similar discussion last spring about a local QB and I argued then that we had Desormeaux and we didn't need that kid to play QB ,and he reshirted at a Div.1AA program this year. Now I don't speak for the staff and if they miss out on some recruits they just might offer him. That's my opinion.By the way, there is a better propect right now in Lafayette that played DB named Williams. He made All-state and some believe he is better then the Andrus kid that signed with Ole Miss. The Cajun staff did not recruit Andrus and I was told they have not offered Williams either.Originally Posted by cajunproud
If the williams kid you are refering to is John Williams from Breaux Bridge he is only a Jr. He is a stud though and he is far better than andrus. He is up there as one of the best to come from Breaux Bridge and that means a lot when you look at the talent that has coem from there.Originally Posted by CajunGuru
I understand your opinion about Trea but I disagree. I see him as a much better player than Simon and close to Cutrera. I have watched him play a lot sense his freshmen year and I see a lot of things in him that we could use. He has a lot of heart, will hit you in the mouth, and he wants to be a cajun...I played with his brother Landon and he only played one year of football ball and was arguebly our best defensive player that year. if he can put on weight like his brother and not lose the athletic ability he has now he could play at a much higher wieght than he does now.
All of this is opinions and I'm glad we can have these discussions without someone having to get out of hand about it.

Playing for one of the nation's top rushing teams sounded like a good idea to Hildebrando "Junior" Ramos.
The 6-3, 295-pound center, a two-year starter at Compton Community College in California, gave University of Louisiana head coach Rickey Bustle a verbal commitment one week ago. And it's no longer verbal, since Bustle received scholarship papers back from Ramos Tuesday.
"What they did with the running game influenced me a lot," said Ramos Tuesday evening. "I plan on making sure we keep on doing what they did this year, and next year go to a bowl game."
The Ragin' Cajuns finished seventh nationally in rushing at 254.3 yards per game, and starting center Greg Hodges was one of two seniors on the offensive line. Ramos said he plans on stepping right into that slot.
"I hope I can," he said. "They do a lot of things in the running game that are kind of like what we did here at Compton, so I love that. Running it like that is an offensive lineman's dream."
Ramos was UL's fifth commitment for the 2006 signee class and is the first junior college signee. He will enroll at UL in January and go through spring drills.

Frantz Accime didn't give the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns a verbal commitment because of facilities, or because of the squad's recent football success.
It was all about the coaches.
"It was only one visit," Accime said, "but they took me under their wing, they were very humble and they cared about me. I didn't want to choose a college just because of a weight room or something like that."
Accime, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback from Boyd Anderson High in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., gave head coach Rickey Bustle and assistant Brian Jenkins a verbal pledge this week. He became the sixth member of the commitment list and the first out-of-state high school commitment.
Accime was one of South Florida's top defensive backs, making the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel's All-Broward County squad and helping lead coach Lawal McCray's team to a 7-4 record prior to an upset loss in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.
