Believe me when I say I trust our coaches and think they have done a great job of recruiting and turning this program around but I hate seeing players in our own backyard being passed on.

Great job recruiting! What kind of dope are you smoking man. ULL has the worst talent in the country.

Countless loosing seasons and no bowl games later.....where is the turnaround.

I think this kid, Trea Fitzgerald, can go and play ball at a 1-AA school and get a better education and have a better chance at playing in the NFL.

Why did these guys not go to a 1-AA school. Or I guess they wanted to stay close to mommy.

Honestly Ian Burks, from Denham Springs seem to have the size and height to play ball elsewhere.

I watched the game against Acadiana High and Fitzgerald was not in the same class as Cutrera.Acadiana also used Cutrera in different ways,especially
blitzing him with different looks.Fitzgerald is a good athlete and should have a shot at playing at a state school. The Cajun squad already has several athletes at linebacker in the same mold 6-0,215. They are looking for some help at MLB and that's why he has not been offered.

I watched both of them one time this year and they are very close in talent level. Trea would be a great fit here but that is only my opinion.

I agree with your point about westgate they do have a lot of talent. I believe Jared Mitchell will either end up at LSU or in MLB. Randell Antoine is a very very good running back but we are loaded at running back for the next few years.

Whenever you have a local product that is very good, you can not afford to let good local players go someone else. I believe they could find a place for him.

Linebacker is not a concern,other then a mlb.Now if he can play Def.Line or Safety,then by all means sign him.Let's see what happens on signing day.

Does anyone know who else is recriuting Trae? I know his older brother and if he is anything like his brother he is a great guy. His brother is a really big guy so if he takes after his brother maybe we could use him at defensive end. His brother is about 6'3 and 235 pounds solid muscle.

The coaching staff has done an excellent job of trying to keep local talent. If this kid is as good as everybody says he is, then you go get him. I don't care if he fills a specific need. If he is a gifted athlete, a good student and good character guy, and he is local, you get that guy every time. They can find a position for him. I'm sure everybody remembers a linebacker by the name of Ricky Jackson who was very small but had the heart of a lion.

UL, the school i lovve so much has been lacking on recruiting for a long time, one guy a while back, late 80's-early 90's they didn't offer, played in the nfl and is in the cfl now, his name is kerry joseph and he is a very good family friend of mine, UL should look at all the talent at Westgate High School in New Iberia, I Garuntee that if they had a decent coach, they would have atleast went to shreveport and would have given west monroe a ____ of a game, in my opinion Gavin Simon who plays linebacker is better than Cutrera and Fitzgerald, he's just not as TALL......but i promise you, if anyone on this forum has the power to go and recruit someone, go to westgate high.......nothin but talent (randall antoine #8, jared mitchell #3, gavin simon #52, quentin pierre #4, craig brodie #7, marcus benjamin #31, willie ?? #10(new guy, transfer from port arthur, tx), derek mitchell #32)

Westgate is loaded with talent. New Iberia senior high has been struggling at just about everything since they have created the two high scools. This is due to the majority of the talent going to westgate high.

I was mistaken in this previous post. I meant Sam Mills, not Ricky Jackson. Sam Mills was only about 5'9" but was one of the best to play the game.

It is my understanding that we have 22 spots for recruits. I know that we had only 16 or 18 seniors but we will sign 22 somehow.
