ULA Cap Idea

Since the untimely passing of his daughter in 1999 Doctor Authement insistence on turning the university into a city school leaves him with no credibility on the name issue. Before 1999 it was a different story.

Alright, I do not want to be the sour apple but, I personally do NOT like ULA. We are getting TOO wishy washy here. If we are to put something else out there it needs to be through the UNIVERSITY'S EYES. Our name has changed several times in our 100 plus years and that in itself has led to an indenity problem. By creating something other than UL is a potential mistake. "ULM started off with ULM and some of their fan base now want UL others want back to NLU". We at Louisiana have wanted UL for years and now we have some wanting hats for ULA???? I know everyone is trying to get rid of the Lafayette, but WE have to do that in a "nice" manner and a productive manner(academics and athletics)!!!! I like your thought processes I just would not want to confuse even more the "NAME CHANGE ISSUE"!!!

UGA is for University of Georgia at Athens....I think.

That is correct UGA does stand for "The University of Georgia @ Athens"!

ULA would work if we were located in Abbeville!!!

UVA stands for the University of Virginia. But, guess what? UVA is ins Charlottsville, VA. So, ULA could work and be a distinctive acronym for the university - only UGA, UVA and ULA. We are still Louisiana, but ULA would not confuse us with Louisville or UL Monroe (ULM) and would take away the ULL reference.

Did NOT say the Hats did NOT lood good, just that we as The University and Alumni/fans need to decide on something like UL or ULA!!

The University(Dr A) and staff may have something in the works right now and we as Alumni and Fans need not confuse the issue even more!!

ULA is certainly a nice take on UGA but it is NOT AN OFFICIAL useage of the UNIVERSITY OF LOUISIANA!!!

Well, I for one would like to know what is "in the works". The longer things stay hidden, the longer folks will remain frustrated and try to come up with ideas on their own. Personally, I don't have a problem with "ULA". DC, just for you we could put a satellite campus in Abbeville Regardless, ULA is a far cry better than ULL, UL-L, Ulala, etc.

For those saying ULA would be unique; I was watching a rerun of the Fresh Prince of Bellaire (boredoom from no UL sports), Will Smith was wearing a jersy with ULA on it. Talk about ugly.

OK, here are my four designs. My personal preference is the one with the state of Louisiana on back with ULA (in white) and a fleur de lis(in black) superimposed on the state.

I like the ULA reference because it gives us a unique acronym and takes away use of ULL. UVA is in Charlottesville, VA, so the VA is for Virginia, just as the LA is for Louisiana. UGA is for Georgia with the GA standing for either Georgia or at Athens. It also separates us from Louisville (UL) and UL Monroe. Reference to our university would be "Louisiana" and "ULA". No more ULL.

Anyway, that is my preference. I know there is a division among our alumni in that regard. You might want to think again about our mascot to go along with Ragin Cajuns. Use of the State Dog, the CatahoULA, would very nicely incorporate the ULA. Anyway, just food for thought.

I really like the last one. I've been looking for a new cap and that one looks nice. If you can get it done I will send you a check for three of them. One for me and two for my boys (if you can get kid sizes). I have nothing against ya'll using ULA. ULA to me just sounds like University of Los Angeles and I am sure that's what will first come to mind for people outside the state when they hear it. I prefer UL and no one can take it away from me.
