This week marks 6 years since Hurricane Katrina and KATC met a woman named Courtney Freeman. She now lives in a house in Lafayette, built by Habitat For Humanity, but 6 years ago she and her children didn't heed official's warnings-- they stayed in their home and when the water overwhelmed the neighborhood, she took to the roof, trying to flag down a helicopter.
Courtney tells us the TV coverage of Hurricane Irene re-opened some old wounds.
"I can't watch that on TV," Courtney says, "So many memories. I saw people from my street, bodies lined up and I pray for the people on the East Coast, no one should ever have to go through what we went through."
