I agree, the significance of the Michaigan design is the stripes resemble the markings on the head of their mascot, a wolverine. Might be a cool design, but pretty irrelevant as to UL. Aren't there more important football topics than these silly helmet threads?

I don't know about the helmet, but I love the Ragin Cajun Crawfish on fire looking logo. That is really cool.

Actually, the helmet design has nothing to do with a wolverine, as it was used first by Princeton. The design was by Spalding, who used the extra leather of the "winged" design to reenforce the structure of the helmet and provide extra padding...

The ULL winged helmet i posted was simply out of boredom... Though i like the idea of multi-colored helmets, whether it be a solid design like michigans or a blend like San Diego State:

    Hey, Daddy-o, I'm with you.

Flowers on a helmet?? Stupid idea.

You might as well use sissyfied things for your teams, like songbirds-- cardinals or orioles, for instance. THAT would be stupid, and we can all agree on that one.

Or worse, kiddy stuff, cartoons and cràp like that. Funny-looking little guys with pitchforks, or tomahawks, or cutesy things like halos.

Man, I could think of a lot of things almost as bad as a bunch of faggot-flowers. Like a horse with an orange blow-dried mane, a dolphin wearing a freakin' helmet (is THAT stupid or what??), 18th century New Englanders in a 3-pt stance (they didn't even HAVE football) or maybe A PIRATE WITH A PATCH AND A FOOTBALL HELMET!????

Things like that would never sell. Only "girly men" would wear stuff like that.

Y'know back in the '70's, some people had this stupid idea that we would even take this embarrassing local culture, and promote that. You ready for this?? They wanted to name our beloved Bulldogs The Ragin' Cajuns. Stupid or what?? I still howl when I think about it.

Fortunately, cooler heads prevailed, largely with the guidance of superior minds from our beloved sister school up the road. These wiser people pointed out that such a name would be hokey, small-time, embarrassing, and WAY too different. Thank God they did. Bulldogs has taken us much farther than that brainless small-town idea ever would have, and has uniquely identified us among much larger and more powerfuls schools and programs.

We need to avoid anything that the least bit "different." The future belongs to those who think inside the box.

Oh, and don't forget: vote "No" on FTTH.

Can you picture a helmet that fades from black to vermilion with a white Fleur de Lis symbol kinda like what the saints sport...talk about "Hot!"

    Here's a great idea -

Let's put "Ragin' Cajuns" on our helmets and "Louisiana" on our jerseys.

How can you have traditions, if everytime someone likes this idea , we go and change. the "words "Ragin Cajuns" on our helmets says it ALL. There is only one RAGIN CAJUN University in the nation and if they don't know who it is, the curiousity will kill them to know who it is and we will be discovered by another lost soul. Let it be. If you want things done at the University, GIVE or buy season tickets. I enjoy these chats but sometimes, ideas seem to wonder beyond the Reasonable.

A kid plays NCAA Football on his xbox.. he plays as his favorite team, local teams, etc... then he goes looking for the cool-looking team... Louisiana is looking pretty plain... I'm not saying go SWAC with the uniform, but I think a little "spice" would be appropriate for the ragin' cajuns...

I couldn't agree with you more & the xbox factor is really a small group of "fans".
