UL Football Lets raise Ticket prices

If we raise ticket prices to $25 minimum the number of students coming to games will jump. Here is the poll how high do ticket prices have to get before students feel like they are wasting an oportunity by not going o games.

I agree. I suggest $25 for the lower and $15 for the upper.

I say I agree because I once won tickets worth $35 for a concert which I really didn't want to go to, but because of the value I thought I owed it to myself to go. So I did.

Perhaps students would be more inclined to attend if the value was higher.

College students are on a limited budget and working parents with kids like myself would not be able to afford to go or bring along the whole family if tickets were that high. Raising prices is not the answer there are differnt ways to increase fan intrest.

Students don't pay for tickets. We get into all athletic events free.

How many of you wanting to raise ticket prices actually buy season tickets? Play on the field and scores on the scoreboard will dictate when Louisiana will be able to raise ticket prices!!!!!!! They went up $2 for football/ticket and $1 for other sports last season specifically for facility inhancement!!!!!!!!! That was a good move, but to do it again I feel is too soon. Hopefully, with WINS in the 7 or 8 range this year will help with even more facility enhancements and then the ticket prices would be able to go up some!!! We do not want to Cox Communications(increase everytime the wind blows) the fans!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Default Take advantage of the Young Ragin' Cajun Club

In my opinion the upper deck is the best seat in the house. . .

Lets say (based on my $ recomendations earlier) a family of 4 with 2 young ones wants to sit the upper deck otherwise known as the best seat in the house. Would it cost (4 x $15) $300 ? . . . No it can be cheaper than that.

At $15 a seat and the Young Ragin' Cajun Club package, the whole family could sit in the best seat in the house as a family for $250 per season.

In reality the savings would have just begun, because then the 2 kids get in free at every other sporting event held at Cajun Basin for the rest of the year. Baseball-FREE, Softball-FREE, Tennis-FREE, Basketball-FREE, Basketball-FREE, Softball-FREE, Track-FREE, Volleyball-FREE, Soccer-FREE.

The upper deck really needs to sell out.

Yeah I hate to break it to ya, but students get in free. I believe it's included in some of our student fees.

However I wouldn't mind if they charged students $5 for the game. It would considering over half our attendance are composed of students.

The stadium has to be full on a consistant basis and then the ticket prices can be raised gradually. The prices on tickets cannot be raised when the demand for them is not enough to fill Cajun field, the Cajun Dome etc. That would go against basic economic principles. The progam has to develop enough demand for tickets so that a price increase would not have an adverse effect on attendance and income.

I hope they dont raise ticket prices too much if they do, because I'm forgetful and lazy. I always forget my UL ID and end up paying to get in to the game that i should get into for free. And as far as making students pay to get in I think is a bad idea. Granted true fans like myself would pay just about anything, it would take away the fans that just go to be with friends, or for any other casual reason. Whether you want to hear it or not, those fans that are just there to be there, and dont really care about the game are still helping out attendance, so until we start selling out I dont recommend charging students. We need the casual fans just as much as we need us diehards. I dont think it will be very long before UL games start selling out. Just look at the city of Lafayette as a whole. It is a very trendy city, just look at the restaurants. When UL starts winning consistently, more and more fans will jump on the bandwaggon as they do with everything else. I love my city, but we should rename it to Bandwaggonville.

DaddyCajun is right. Don't raise any prices until you have a consistant winning program, like UL Baseball. Just fill up the seats. Here is something to think about, it was put to me by Nelson. If the community were to buy just 16,000 more season tickest for any sport at $100.00 a season ticket, what would that get us. Don't have to be an idiot to figure that out. People have to support by buying season tickets for all sports, especially football and basketball because of the large arenas they play in. Fill up Cajun Field at 25,000 this season and you will reap the rewards, put 8,000 plus at the basketball games and see what happens. Women's basketball will be a revenue player next year and coming years if Coach Hall maintains his momentum. UL Baseball is growing every year and is self supporting with the help of advertisers.
    Get the people out.

Looks like my idea is winning in the pols but losing in the posts. I just wanted to create money for the program and create the perception that the tickets are worth something. I know winning will do it but what comes first the money or the winning? In football it's hard to build a winning program with no money.
