LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) - Herman Brister, chief academic officer for East Baton Rouge Parish schools, has added his name to a growing list of applicants for Lafayette Parish school superintendent.
The Advocate reports Brister is one of 11 who had applied for the position as of Tuesday. The application period ends Sept. 12.
The school board is set to pin down its selection process, which includes a plan to interview the top 10 applicants, at its meeting Wednesday.
The board plans to select a new superintendent by Dec. 7 - just weeks before to the end of Superintendent Burnell Lemoine's contract on Dec. 31.
