The better team clearly won tonight.
I think the Salukis will be a top 25 team this year.
Our guards have to play better. I think that it will take a while for this team to get the chemistry it needs to win. They are not usud to playing good opponents together.
Cameron, Southall, and Mitchell all had 38 min. That is not good at all, we need more depth, but we only have 9 players. NOT GOOD!
well all, you all know what happened last night down in Carbondale, but here's my 2 cents from seeing it in person. I would have posted last night when I got home, but was pretty tired from the drive.
-If SIU can hit that many 3's every game and at the percentage they did it, they will win against anyone.
-The first 8 minutes in the second half buried us. We couldn't hit shots, played pretty sloppy, and the refs called foul after foul on us.
-Tatum for SIU is a stud
-Southall is definitely back. I WOULD have, however, liked to see him have the ball down on the block more, 'cause when they fed him the rock, we usually got 2 points
-Free throw shooting (as it has been for quite a few seasons now) are huge, especially in big games like these, and we don't get enough free points.
-Ed Turner made some bad decisions when he had the ball. Fist actual game jitters? I dunno, but he wasn't much of a factor.
-I thought Dwyane played pretty well, but if I can manage the floor like Tatum does for SIU, that would be huge
-Chris Cameron had a pretty solid game all around, I was pretty impressed by him
-I noticed some people were talkin about Maurice Barksdale on here, but I think he could be a pretty darn good addition for us, as he played, for the most part, pretty solid
-the ONE shot Lucian Pesoli had was money. Has a great stroke and I forsee him getting some more PT as the season goes on.
-I felt that we were just as athletic as SIU, but at quite a few points in the game, they completely out-hustled us.
-For as athletic and quick as we are, a lot of times we were too quick for our own good and it resulted in some poor decisions.
Overall take, its the opener. Yes, in the grand scheme of things a win over the #9 team in the MMP would have been huge, but we HAVE talent, and we CAN win the SBC title and go to the dance yet again. I'm ready for Tuesday already!

Cajuns turning it over left and right. Only about 50% chance to get a shot off when bringing ball down court. 11-8 Vols
