Geaux Cajuns
Don't be suprised if that same up in your face defense is shoved right back in your face, we have been known to play the exact same kind of defense, it should be a great street ball game!
The Salukis will be running away with their tails between their ||| after the Ragin' Cajuns of Louisiana beat them like the dogs they are.
Geaux Louisiana!
Ahhh don't u love the smack! Basketball season is upon us!
well forget him! You know how many people go to the games because of southall, who cares about 1 ignorant caller?Originally Posted by Doug
Young was injured during pick up games over the Summer but has played in both exhibition games and will start on Friday. He is probably not 100% but is damm close to it. He's backup is a young phenom though. Bryan Mullins will be one of the best true guards in the country in two years
Yea, I think that fan who said he won't go to the games is crazey also. You gotta support your kids the same way I gotta harass them when they come to Carbondale. Everybody makes mistakes and some people make lots of them. If this guy is not on scholorship and is paying his own way, that says alot to me.
Someone said we should not do the flyers because we should let "sleeping cajuns lie". If I thought Southall was sleeping I'd agree. He's got a lot to prove and I doubt he will bothered by anything we do at SIU. He is not a sleeping giant. THis guy will be stocked for his forst game in what, two years. Trthfully, It's more for the fans and students to have a good time than to mess with him really.
If he survived the Lousiana state correctional instiitute I think he will make it out of Carbondale just fine. lol

Oh, well in that case, we might rattle him. I'm sure Carbondale is more brutal than anything in Wisconsin. lol Except maybe Lambau Field.
Yea you guys are definately in trouble.
Last year, we played a three guard system(Orien Green-Celtics, Tyrus Wade-Europe, Dwayne Mitchell-senior), a small forward(Brian Hamilton-graduated), and a power forward(Chris Cameron-Senior). The additions to the starting lineup as of now are Ross Mouton(junior-usually first off the bench last year), Ed Turner (junior by way of Central FL CC & University of Pittsburgh) and Michael Southall(senior). Primary subs at this point will probably be point guard Maurice Barksdale (junior-Blinn JC & Baltimore-Dunbar HS) and Lucian Pesoli (SO-TR from Long Beach State). None of these guys are playing their first games at a high level, so hopefully the pressure won't rattle us too much. I think it will be a great game, and with the difficulty of scheduling these days, can become a series that can go into the future as a benefit to both schools.
The team you held to 31 points was SIU-somewhereville. Are they even D1? D2 maybe? You may say our guards are young, but are big men are big and very talented and have veteran leadership. Not to mention that Dwayne Mitchell (one of our guards) is a senior and knows what it takes to play in big games (played at Auburn in the $EC). Our guards will handle the pressure very well.Originally Posted by SalukiRage

SIUE is D2, they also played on the road, the day after they played us, and only lost by 6 points at Purdue.
True the team we held to 31 was SIU-E, a division II team, so it is a little over the top to go to crazey about that. However SIUE was one of the top DII teams last year and scored either 62 or 72 on Purdue that day after they played us and only lost by a couple. (I can't remember which 62 or 72?) Yea, I know its exhibition, it doesn't mean much but it means something.
I'm just saying our defense is spectacular. I'm sure you guys have talented guards. They will be in for a challenge Friday night.
Your key will be you big guys against our young big guys. We have talent there also but we got pushed around pretty good last year against Ok St. in the NCAA tourney and one of our biggest concerns is whether they are stronger. I think going against Southall and your big guys will be a pretty good measuring stick for how far our front court has developed over the Summer.
I'm really looking forawrd to this game. In the end the home court will likely be decisive.
