I just hope that one or two of our seniors get drafted next year, imagine the recruiting exposure that would do....

Being able to say you have had players taken in 2 straight drafts would be HUGE.

The addition of "Bracket Buster Saturday" to Louisiana's 2005-06 men's basketball schedule doesn't change the overall look of the slate. It was already plenty tough.

Five of the Cajuns' nonconference opponents were NCAA Tournament participants last year, and it's possible the "Bracket Buster" foe could raise that number to six. The Cajuns will play eight games against teams that won 20 or more games in 2004-05.

"It's a tremendous challenge, but that's what we want to do," said head coach Robert Lee, entering his second UL season after a surprising 20-11 NCAA Tournament campaign last year. "Going out and playing good teams will help us get ready for conference play."

Lee's other reason for the stout schedule is even more goal-oriented. If UL can have success against the nonconference portion of the schedule -one now supplemented by the "Bracket Buster" game Feb. 18 - its chances for an at-large invitation to the NCAA Tournament will increase.

"Our goal is to not have to rely on winning three games in March to go to the tournament," said Lee, referring to the Sun Belt postseason tournament. "We want to put ourselves in a position to get an at-large bid. That's the direction we want to go with this program."

This year's schedule won't hurt that. The Cajuns' first two regular-season games are at Southern Illinois (27-8) and at SEC power Tennessee.

    UL Basketball Re: Hoops Schedule

Why so few home Saturday games? Looks like only 4 this year...those are most likely the ones that I could make. And I'll be on vacation for one of them.

Not that many home games period. Although I do like the caliber of the away, non-conference schedule.

Why don't we get Tulane to come in and play us on the Dec.1 date instead of Southern N.O.

The game I have circled on my calender is the Dec. 17 game against Lsu at Br.

I don't know. I certainly hope they have been asked. I just thought that it would make more sense now with the hurricane situation.

I would rather anybody over a 1-aa program.

The question was rhetorical. OF COURSE they've been asked. They only want to play us in New Orleans.

EVERYBODY doesn't wanna play us at home. Even the Tiggers.
