Why?This is not the beginning of conference play, there is no need to close the doors to the public. This would have been a great opportunity to build support in this community. Please don't suggest there is a concern of someone scouting or filming this scrimmage. There will be plenty of people scouting and filming the Cajuns the first week of the season. It will be no secret as to what the Cajuns plan to do on the court when the season starts.

Really?I didn't know that was the case. When did this become a NCAA rule?I could remember such scrimmages in JV football and basketball back in the 70's being open to the public.

UL Basketball Re: Men's Basketball Scrimmage

When I started this thread, I had just heard about the scimmage but not the details. Typical team scrimmages (like last Saturday) are not closed to the public. In this case, in this case its due to scrimmaging another college team, which brings NCAA regs into play. I've attached the text and link I think applies.

The following basketball contests (games or scrimmages) are permitted prior to the first contest dates specified under Bylaw 17.5.3:

    (a) Practice Scrimmages. Informal practice scrimmages with outside competition, provided they are conducted in privacy without publicity or official scoring. Individuals other than athletics department staff members and those necessary to conduct a basketball practice scrimmage against outside competition may not be present during such a scrimmage. The institution shall ensure that the scrimmage is free from public view; (Revised: 10/27/98 effective 8/1/99, 5/12/05)

    Ragin' Cajuns Basketball at SIU

Cajuns tip off the regular season this Friday at Southern Illinois. We beat these guys on a last second shot last season in the Dome. Now we have a very talented team compared to last season, while SIU lost some key players. Any predictions?
