Philipp Fendt closed out his junior campaign for Louisiana with a berth into the NCAA Southeast Regional and collected PING All-Central Region honors. But, the accolades haven't stopped there for Fendt.

The rising Ragin' Cajuns senior golfer is steadily climbing the Men's World Amateur Golf rankings. Through the end of July, Fendt came in at No. 26 in the rankings.

The Men's World Amateur Golf Ranking system ranks the top male amateur golfers in the world on the basis of their average performance in Counting Events over a rolling cycle of the previous 52 weeks.

"It means a lot to me to be among the Top 30 amateur golfers in the world," Fendt mentioned. "It is the result of good work over the past few months and years.

"I have improved tremendously since my arrival at UL in 2008, and I am very thankful for the academic education on the one hand, and for Coach Sliman's outstanding dedication to this team on the other hand."

Strong play over the summer months has elevated Fendt from 62nd in the world at the start of July to present-day 27th.

The Austrian native placed 17th at the World Amateur Championship and ninth at The Amateur Championship. Fendt advanced to the Round of 16 in match play at The Amateur Championship.

Fendt hopes to use his successful summer play as a confidence boost heading into his senior campaign with the Cajuns.

"I am ready to not only continue, but also improve my consistent game within the next few weeks and I am very much looking forward to a great season with my teammates," Fendt said. "I am positive that my fellow teammate and also rising senior, Andrew Noto, and I will be able to lead UL to the NCAA Nationals which has to be our ultimate goal as a team."
