Thread: Louisiana wins Bayou Bowl 10-7 (Fenroy looks good)

Fenroy just had a couple good runs. It looks like he runs hards and with his shoulders square. He is hitting the DBs just as hard as they are hitting him. He is getting an extra couple yards after the hit. That is a very good sign.

I was very pleased with what I saw. Fenroy only got one carry in the 1st half mostly out of the fullback position, but he got the ball a few times after the break and he made the most of them. Very good blocker in the backfield...I don't remember him missing one block the whole night (and he made quite a few). He's got great burst and is very decisive when hitting the hole. Looks like a hard runner who enjoys punishing guys...I can't wait to see him in an offense that likes to run the ball with Jerry Babb and Deon Wallace in the backfield with him. Next season's going to be one to remember if we can stay healthy.

BAYTOWN, Texas - Wide receiver P. J. Brown of St. Amant hauled in a 20-yard touchdown pass with 30 seconds left, propelling the Louisiana team to a 10-7 victory over its Texas counterpart here Saturday night in the third annual Bayou Bowl all-star high school football game.

Brown's touchdown capped a drive that began at the Texas 41 with 4:34 remaining on linebacker Brandon Brumfield's fumble recovery. Louisiana, taking its first win in the series, drove those 41 yards before Brown's winning catch.

Carencro's Lucas Taylor, who played wide receiver most of the game, played quarterback for much of that drive when Louisiana went to an option attack. Taylor sneaked for a first down on a fourth-and-one to the Texas 31, and St. Charles Catholic running back and University of Louisiana signee Tyrell Fenroy ran three yards on a third-and-one to the Texas 20 with 2:31 left.

    The rest of the story

It was nice to see him get the ball a few times in the second half...

I didn't see where they could stop him... He is a punishing runner on a fullback draw... but if he's gonna play that in college... he needs to add some size.

He kinda reminded me of Damon Denaberg [sp?] or John Hamilton... legs kept pumping no matter what.

Fenroy was used mostly as a FB in game. In a couple formations he was a single back, but he was not the featured back in the Louisiana offense. The offense was set up to feature Holliday,Taylor and Lee . He was asked to play the FB position because he was the best blocker and largest back left of the roster. Tech signee Jackson removed himself from the roster and that left the coaches with only Fenroy as a capable blocking back. We will all get to see that Fenroy is much more capable of doing more when fall drills start.

I watched the first half and Fenroy didn't look so good. It was all I could take I had to turn it off,

yah, in the first half I was like, this guy isn't that much, but wow did he shut me the hell up in the second half. This kid can flat out play, he was doing the one thing that we really need, he was able to get those extra yards after contact. I mean they handed the ball off to him like 5 times in a row and every time he exploded through those holes, made people miss, and drove through the first contact man. He really impressed me with his ellusivness and his explosion. I'm really excited to see what he can do for our team.
