All the more reason to use ULA, like Virginia (UVA) or Georgia (UGA). We would be one of only 3 schools in the country to use that and would greatly help with our identity.

    J. Kelley Hall has brought a new look to Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns women's basketball, reaching unprecedented heights with an appearance in the 2005 Sun Belt Conference championship game.

Now the Cajuns are going to have a new-look floor to go with their success on the court.

A $150,000 project is well under way to replace the floor at Earl K. Long Gym on campus, where the Cajuns were unbeaten last season, and results are already evident.

"The floor has been laid," Hall said. "They still need to sand it, then seal it, paint it and then they'll seal in again, but it's nailed in."

Originally, the university had received estimates on repairing a portion of the floor that had been damaged by water.

But officials were able to strike a deal that would produce an entire new floor for a reasonable fee.

The light-colored maple wood floor will have a large, black "UL" symbol at midcourt, with "Louisiana" in small script. There will also be the mandatory "Sun Belt Conference" logo included in the new look.

    OK DIE-HARDS:
I'll try to get it right. The middle (HALF COURT) will have the interlocking UL.
It will be painted with the vermillion (red) 4 foot wide all the way around except it will go 6 feet on the endzones. University of Louisiana spelled out down the sidelines (both sides) in the natural wood color. Ragin Cajuns spelled out across the endlines in natural wood color with the Chili pepper on the n. The SunBelt Conference logo will be spelled out in the natural wood color in the lane with the whole lane being painted red. The only other thing on this court will be a White Volleyball Court. Hope this helps. Maybe Turbine could do some magic and show us. Thanks.

Thanks for some more of the court details Coach Hall!

I passed by earlier today to take a peek at the court. It looks great! I noticed that they have done some sanding (might be finished) and that they have put the lines down for the foul and 3-point shots, along with the volleyball court outline.

Overall, I think the court will look fantastic! I really like having University of Louisiana spelled out in the natural wood color....that will look smooth!

Also, does anyone know about making a banner out of the old floor? I believe it was Turbine that mentioned someone talking about it. That "wood" be cool.

Actually, if you're painting the inside of your house (walls & trim) you shouldn't use painter's tape. In this instance...(painting lines on the court) it is very helpful. The only time I ever used painter's tape when working for a professional painter was to tape heavy duty paper on hardwood floors so that we could walk without worrying about tracking dirt, dust, etc.

It is actually easier to trim in moulding using a "free-hand" then by taping it off using painter's tape. In some instances, paint can seep under the tape and leave a jagged edge behind.

Just a little lesson that I was taught and believe me it works.

Yes, I will be providing my skills to UL on Volunteer Weekend!!!
