Dan Gay...

Gay, 6-5, 295, is a Lafayette native who prepped at St. Thomas More High School and started the final 34 games of his college career at Baylor at every position on the offensive line except for center from 2006-08. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the San Diego Chargers in 2009, spent the final month of the season on the New York Jets practice squad and went to their training camp in 2010.

His mom lives in an apt. across from mine. I was talking with her several months ago, and when she told me her son played football at Baylor, I asked his name. She said "Dan Gay'. I asked if he was related to the former UL star and she said it was his son. Early this summer, she saw me walking by and invited me to come by and meet her son. We chatted for a while about football, of course, and I told him some of my recollections of his dad's playing days at UL. He seems like a really good young man. I know as an undrafted free agent, his chances of making the team are pretty low. But I'm really hoping he can make it!
