Thread: Batiste issues pledge to Cajuns

  1. UL Football Batiste issues pledge to Cajuns

Dutchtown High defensive end Darrien Batiste had already made up his mind about the future of his football career.

Making the trip to the Ragin' Cajun Elite Camp this past Sunday to break the news personally to UL first-year coach Mark Hudspeth was just lagniappe.

They think he will flourish in their system and may be a guy who plays early.

Brady was on vacation last week, which had been scheduled back in January.

His actual last day is this Friday.

Since Brady is staying with the same company, I was hoping he would take the vacation his first week on the job. You know time to move in.

Would have been nice if it had worked out that way, because I could sure use the extra time off to pack up things and move. But as Jay said, my vacation was scheduled back in January, when I was still doing high school stuff.

Bad timing for the UL beat, since I was on vacation during Sun Belt Media Days and while other things were happening, but it was a vacation I couldn't change because I had already booked and paid for a cruise that week.

The 6-foot-2, 242-pound incoming senior returns at defensive end for the Griffins. Batiste, who carries a 3.5 GPA, will join former Dutchtown teammate Effrem Reed, a running back who signed with the Cajuns in February.
