Yes there was UL news ---The interview of Coach HUD was as fine of a conference as I have seen---He pointed out where we were and what we have done to improve and where we hope to go---This was characterized by the combination of the Freshmen coming in and the senior leadership and the process of entire team ---He mentioned the peripherals of community and recruiting in juxtaposition of the actual on field work----I guess we owe Bruce Brown some cudos for his filling in on the Belt's meeting----Actually HUD entertained many more questions and answered them most articulately!!!!!
Neither D.J. McCarthy nor Akiem Hicks made much of an enduring impact during their brief tenures at LSU , and for allegedly "major" NCAA violators, they're not leaving much of one for running afoul of recruiting rules, either. As outlined in a 22-page ...
Not true. Look at today's Advertiser. The SBC preseason press conference is underway and there were 2 UL articles and 2 SBC articles. My only beef is that the lead article was still LSU.
Isn't the Sports Editor Bruce Brown, a UL alum and former sports writer. Why isn't he putting UL first and why doesn't he set up the paper with a UL section and an LSU and other universties section, like the Monroe paper does with sections for ULM, LA Tech, Grambling and LSU? UL first in its hometown newspaper. Shouldn't be that hard a concept to grasp.
I'm not arguing that UL should be first priority in the paper. I was making a point that I posted news about LSU on here b/c there simply hasn't been much to talk about. other than preseason press conference, how many big stories about UL sports have come around this month. not too many.
There should be stories to write about such as individual players, the schedule, coaches, etc. But, the Advertiser also just lost a sports writer. I thought something was odd when Brady took over and didn't make a splash. He just said wait until the season starts to see meaningful articles or something to that effect. A few weeks later he is gone. I have no doubt that if Parrot was still on board, we would have seen a number of articles in this otherwise dead period. There is never a shortage of football articles about State in the Advocate whether we are in football season or not. We should expect the same for UL. Let's hope the new sports writer will have the same passion for UL that Parrot had/has and that the Sports Editor will see fit to give UL the priority it deserves.
Ruh Roh!!! Seems like Baton Rouge is in a molten Nacho cheese storm. Not only does ESPN connect the dots and figure out that the "video" purchased from Lyles is likely just a cover to pay Lyles influence to get Big Ben Jr. to commit to the program. Also...tee hee, apparently Russell "definition of overhyped" Shepard was not at media days tending to a personal issue. Personal issue meaning a compliance problem with housing. A team that is on probation....needs the hammer when they trip over their own stupidity. Please hammer DO hurt em...
