HUD has not won one game nor demonstrated his loyalty to the university - this maybe a stepping stone to greener pastures, if he proves he can win here.

Funds will become available after solid financial support is demonstrated - an educational institution can not afford a "financial crisis" (i.e. housing industry) and make investments without balance sheet support/commitments from the private sector - stadium expansion will not come primarily from the state.

I like your optimistic and aggressive attitude toward the stadium, but it seems a bit unrealistic in this economic climate.

I love this thought. Come out and say, you want to play with the big boys, you told me you did, now here is what I want to do. Now the pressure shifts to the administration to say NO and look like the old regime or begin moving this University forward. This requires a response and probably an uncomfortable one.... and that a good thing... a VERY good thing

    Reality check.

We're two years away from even going to the board to get approval to do something like this. _
Cool....We've only been talking about a baseball remodel for 8 years, so CajunField in 2025.

This has nothing to do with a "demonstration"... from a coach or a group of supporters. What you are correct about is that the stadium team is not going to hit the "go" button until they are ready. And yes, we will, without a doubt, begin the stadium project long before we have the money to pay for it. We will have a "plan" to pay for it. The "economic climate"... low interest loans... and very attractive construction labor and material costs... is one of the promotions of starting the project.

The traditional housing industry... an excellent example to use for reference... is not a problem... but in fact a staple of the American economy. 95% of Americans have purchased homes when they did not have the money on-hand to purchase for a century and a half. They presented a plan to responsible financial institutions... got loans... made their payments... and the system worked very well. Liberals decided that the Fair Housing Act... a social engineering program... was in order. Our jugheaded socialist congressional representatives mandated loan institutions... and created new ones... to loan money to people that have no means... no plan... to pay for those loans. In lieu of intelligent governmental institutional regulatory control... they allowed new constructs to be created... and they all knew what they were... to have institutions bundle these Federal government guaranteed bad loans. If you jack with Wall Street... make very certain... Wall Street will jack you back. Our government... to the dismay of the overzealous liberal... is not equipped... and never will be... to manage anything more than the very simple directions they were given in our Constitution. They have "demonstrated" that fact a thousand times. Sorry... but you brought it up.

Now... back to the stadium. BOP is correct. UL has to clear the current construction slate and put the plan up for approval before we can take this subject seriously. Hud is just making sure that the slate clears quickly and nothing else is used as an excuse to slow the start.

Another thing... we can't just wait for Hud to "win his first game" or "take us to the first bowl". His "Teamwork Makes The Dream Work" started the process he aspires from the first day he became our coach. I know the kind of person he is. You do not hire a Hud and then try to bridle that maverick. We've been a pretty sad football system... you have to admit. When we picked Hud to come onboard the UL ship, he looked everyone in the eye and said, "who wants to be a winner?", and everyone raised their hand... including Dr. Joe. Hud very quickly told us how that happens. Management winced. We all did. We had better not let Hud down... or we let ourselves down... all over again.

Nice comments by everyone. I think what many are not grasping is that this project is on each one of US. WE have to make a committment to this university and program. WE have to go out and push season ticket sales to friends and associates. WE have to make sure WE are buying extra tickets for friends to tag along.

I think a lot of us are getting tired of the staring match WE'VE been having with the administration, trying to figure out who's committed. WE can't blink first. WE need to step up. No more excuses from anyone. WE need to strap it on and take no prisoners.

Rant off. Killing time at work while working for the "evil" oil industry.

First, Mr. Farmer and company have enough "renditions" of Cajun Field. We are beyond that. They have specific design options already engineered up to the point of estimating total construction costs, phased break points, and cost options.

What Mr. Farmer and company are doing is privately soliciting specific donors regarding their level of support. You can selectively leak concepts and have some people, like an over-ambitious coach, give out the hype stuff. It generates expectations and pressure, but it does not put money in the bank. When it comes to actuals, the stadium team is determining, based on known financial models, what money you have to have on-hand, what support commitments you can count on, and then what revenues you will generate once the stadium is in operation.

No one on here is going to send emails, images, ideas or anything else and change the plan... unless it includes a monster check (that clears). With Hudspeth recently speaking publicly about the stadium, it signals we are very close to launch. He is pressing the issue. He knows how much our management wants to have guarantees first... but that is simply not going to happen. The right stadium construction project is going to have to be a leap of faith to some extent. I think it has very little risk.

What has a lot of general Joe fans upset is that our management has had to put the stadium onhold. They were counting on Bustle getting us in a bowl or two 4 or 5 years ago. We simply have had no fanfare to get that final stadium push going. If our management had their druthers, they would like to wait until they see what Hud can deliver before they go full bore on the stadium mods. That cannot happen. If they do not move on the stadium, we will not have Hud or the most precious support system when it opens. Their backs are against the wall on this stadium and they absolutely have to go forward without any of the guarantees they wish they had. _
My dear Cajun fan! A great analogy and there will be financing for the stadium going forward. The administration will handle this initiative as well! The faith we have blindly fostered for years is finally being realized. What a great time to be a Cajun fan! Go Cajuns!

I sure hope that Hud is ready, and we are ready to move forward at the same time. All of us can join the RCAF, but it is going to take some extraordinary financial support to keep a spirited maverick in the stable. Most of us have waited an awful long time for this ship to come in.

Maybe we can find the guy that tried to kill the oak trees at Auburn or Alabama (whichever it was)!!!!!!

I'm sure he would have no problem killing them with a case of beer as payment.

Sorry, but if you can't pony up $5 to park at a UL game you should probably be at your second job to make ends meet. People pay that to park at the Cajun Heartland Fair, concerts, rodeo, etc... If $5 is going to break you then you probably shouldn't be at the event in the first place.
