Thread: Texas license plates (with a UL logo)

  1. #1

Default Texas license plates (with a UL logo)

    Do you live in Texas?

Would you be interested in purchasing a Texas license plate that has a UL logo on it?

If the answer to both of those questions is "YES", please send an email to jonaslandry@louisiana.edu stating that fact. The university is doing a survey of Texas alumni to get a feel for the interest level and determine if this would be a valuable investment.

Note that this is not a commitment of any kind. The university is simply gauging interest at this time.

Please send the email before Friday July 15.

I looked into this a couple of years ago and am looking at the website now and at plates for other universities. Can you call me to discuss?

The university may never approve using just UL without the Lafayette. After 11 years of waiting, maybe its time to take another approach.

Alabama uses a similar logo on their Texas plates with Roll Tide Roll at the bottom. See the attachment that shows what their logo looks like. Very similar to ours EXCEPT they:

    1. Only use their school colors with a light black trim
    2. Only use Alabama and not Alabama's
    3. Only use the script "L" in the center, not UA or any other symbol
    4. Put ROLL TIDE ROLL at the bottom

I like your logo icon where you removed the " 's". So, what we do is use the logo icon you have with LOUISIANA Ragin Cajuns, but clean up the colors.

So, IF the UL leadership would finally approve use of LOUISIANA athletically and remove the " 's", then revise the circle logo and:

    1. Get rid of the multi-coloring and use only Vermillion and white with the light black trim,
    2. Drop the " 's" and use only LOUISIANA,
    3. Forget about using the UL and go to an "L" in some form, and
    4. Put GEAUX CAJUNS at the bottom.

Not only would that be a great plate for Texas, it could be used for ALL gear that we could buy which would open up huge merchandizing opportunities for UL. Use of LOUISIANA and "L" would not violate the law in any way. Just need to come up with an "L" that works for us. Time to move away from the use of "Louisiana's" and clean that up every where.

And, lastly, quit worrying about any resemblance to the University of Louisville. We have to do what can work for us. Texas and Tennesse both use of the "T" on all of their gear and both are orange or burnt orange in color, yet no one confuses them. The hell with Louisville. WE ARE LOUISIANA.

I can tell you this. If they try to sell this with the Lafayette in it, they can count me out. Plus I will campaign against it!!
