Thread: SETTING NO LIMITS (Improve Basketball Program Meeting)

I know this is probably a stupid question, but was there any talk about the possibility of renovating Blackum and letting the men play there. It seems to me that unless we get interest up enough in Basketball, the CajunDome will not be packed on a nightly basis. But, all we need are 4 to 6 thousand a night and Blackum would be rocking. What an intimidating place to play it would be. The crowd would practically be on top of the court.

I beleive it is outdated and would need major improvements.

Athletic Director and basketball staff have zero interest-repeat zero interest- in returning to Blackham. For one, it probably does not meet safety standards. It is not going to happen.

Just curious...where there any students involved with this meeting? I'm sure there must be plenty of students (including me) that would be interested in helping out in whatever way we could. Get the word out!

Why not have a sealed bid auction for the carpet as a little fundraiser. I am sure that some true die hards would bid on it and the team would not turn the money down. Everyone looks for ideas. Well that was just my thoughts. Any thoughts???

A friend and I were there...we picked up a few ideas, heard and felt a lot of good energy, and are tossing some around right now about finding a way to get the Ragin Brass involved by doing some kind of little fundraiser to help out any way we can.

I hear you, but read my post CAREFULLY. I said RENOVATION of Blackham.

I still remember going to games there and it was a great venue. If it were COMPLETELY RENOVATED it would be the most intimidating place in the country to play. Even when the Cajundome is packed, it doesn't have that intimate feeling that makes for a great sporting atmosphere.

That said, let's get interest up enough to sell out the Dome everynight.

  10. I have a Question Re: SETTING NO LIMITS (Improve Basketball Program Meeting)

The girls have a new basketball court, or close to it. The Football, track, tennis, softball and baseball joints are all pressure washed and painted.

HAS ANYTHING BEEN DONE FOR MENS BASKETBALL?

I heard Gerald Hebert say at one of the meetings, something is suppose to be done to the locker rooms at the Cajundome. I do not know all the details.

From my understanding, they will have access to the icegators dressing rooms which were much nicer. There is some work needed there to decorate related to the Cajuns.
