We beat them before but they are not a 3 seed that any 2 seed wants in their bracket. Anyway, I don't see the Cajuns as a number 2 in NO since I think the Cajuns will be a borderline #1 and Tulane will probable be the number 1 national seed so they will likely get a weaker #2 than the Cajuns in their regional.
True, it has not been mention but the Cajuns could end up in a regional somewhere in Texas.

Baylor and Texas are likely national seeds. If the Cajuns are a strong #2 seed (which remains to be seen - they could be a #1), I do not see the NCAA selection committee placing them in a national seed regional. Not unless the Cajuns really tank the remainder of their games.

Austin and Waco are the only regionals I see in Texas. I do not think Rice is awarded a host regional right now. But if they were, the Cajuns would be a good fit as a #1/#2 seed there since the teams are close in terms of performance and strength.

I do think that Mark missed the mark with his placing of the Cajuns in the New Orleans regional. The NCAA will not do that (if the season ended today).

And the Cajuns beat Varvaro with Hansen closing in Minnesota (scored on both).

I agree St. John's is playing better ball. But I would not mind getting sent to a St. John's regional as the #1 seed. St. John's can certainly snag a #2 seed if they keep playing well. The NCAA selection committee has awarded less deserving northern teams a host site and #2 seed.

Here's a possibility - The Cajuns win out and win the conference tournament. They get a lucky draw (RPI wise) and face FIU once and USA twice in the tournament. Some of their previous opponents continue to do well as they have been lately. This could get their RPI to 16 or better. Winning out would give them 52 wins which would almost certainly give them at least a tie for the most wins in the country. They would be 5-0 in their last 5, 10-0 in their last 10 and possibly 10-0 in neutral site games, 15-6 on the road, a really good record vs the top 50 and top 100 depending on who ends up there, they would have gone the entire season without losing a weekend series, they would have won all 5 tournaments this year (I think its 5), and would have two conference championships ( regular season and tournament). It would be very very hard for them to not get a #1 seed if this played out.

Brian do you think they would send they Cajuns that far up north?

It depends on where the other non-hosting #1 seeds are located. But if the Cajuns were a #1 seed, yes it is a possibility. The #1 seeds have to go somewhere.

As a #1 seed, South Alabama has traveled to both Clemson and Notre Dame.

So are you saying that the Cajuns more than likely will not host?

    Yes.

I think the only chance the Cajuns have at hosting is if ...

    a) they go on a nice run and position themselves as a #1 seed

    and

    b) LSU loses 2/3 @ Mississippi State this weekend, finishes no better than the #5 seed (very possible losing 2/3 this weekend) and goes 0-2 in the conference tournament.

If LSU takes care of business this weekend, wins the West, and does well in the conference tournament, they could be a national seed. I still think that chances are the SEC gets two national seeds. But it depends on how some of these teams finish.
