Eligible or not, the kid played ball 3 mile away from the complex and his dad was a former Cajun great. You recruit him. Doesn't mean you have to offer him but at least recruit him. If Bustle would have spent half the time recruiting as he did playing golf, he might still have his job. Philosophy my arse, it's called lazy. How hard would it be to recruit him 3 miles away, tell the kid if he gets his grades he has an offer.

All water under the bridge now. Kid is here. Hud is here. What bustle should or shouldn't have done doesn't matter anymore. The day Hud was hired started a new day, a new season and a new outlook for the football team.
Welcome home Figaro.
We didn't let Tulane get him. We started recruiting him once he was at Hargrave and getting his grades in order. However, it appears that Tulane was in better contact with him prior to going and maybe they kept in contact as his dad says he had already made up his mind once he got eligible. It's a difference in philosophy. What does it hurt to maintain contact with him if you are interested? Not much, however, if I remember right Cajun T mentioned that during Figaro's time at LHS, he was considered a project for football as he was a good athlete but a project at WR. Maybe the coaches just didn't grade him that well. I'm not sure and it really doesn't matter now but maybe their thought process was why focus on a kid who isn't eligible now when we can go out and recruit a kid who can enter our program now and be more effective?

Really? I wonder if you'd be willing to allow your boss to subject you to the same criteria you're putting on Bustle here. Do you ever take time away from your job? How much? None of my business? That's exactly right.
How much time did Bustle spend playing golf, exactly?
He didn't win as many ball games as we'd like. That makes him lazy? If coach Hud goes 4-8 this season, is he playing too much golf too? There are thousands of kids playing ball in Louisiana this fall that Hud will not recruit. Some of them will probably wind up with excellent careers far, far away. Does that make him lazy?
It's easy to have a recruiting record that is perfect when you're looking in the rear view mirror. Just not sure that's perfect perspective is worth questioning somebody's character.
Looking forward to hearing about how your next performance review goes. just make sure you don't take any time off from work. Your boss might call you lazy.

This isn't some theory I grabbed out of thin air. I know what I know, believe what you want. I can promise you this staff will recruit every d-1 athlete in this city. Grades or not, if you can't get your a s s 3 miles down the road to talk to a kid, your lazy. This isn't an isolated incident. Regardless, he is gone, I'm glad he is gone.
