if he was a non-qualifier, he probably wasn't offered. the way i understood it, with a few exceptions, that was sop under bustle. maybe someone else could elaborate.
He didn't have the grades coming out of LHS. that's why they didn't recruit him. Anyway, it's going to be interesting to see how he does. I'm excited to have him here!
But then we let Tulane get him?

Coach Bustle had some very strict recruiting guidelines. We would hear about them from the assistants at times during unguarded moments after the QB Club. His guidelines and methodical method of deciding on who to offer was at times frustrating to the assistants. Its just the way it was with Coach Bustle. That was his philosophy while other head coaches such as Larry Coker have a philosophy that was described to us as being 180 degrees from that. Coker's philosophy at Miami, according to one of our coaches who knew him, was that his assistants could offer any recruit at any time but if they were over the numbers by signing day that coach had to tell the kid he didn't have a scholarship. Both philosophies have their downsides.
Our talent level over the last 4 or 5 years was lacking...where in way too many games we just did not seem to have enough of it to compete even within our own league. I can understand not wanting to sign player after player that couldn't get eligible, but it appears we carried that to an extreme. Our lack of success on the field was a direct result of the fact that we more often than not were playing more talented teams than us PERIOD.
