Here's my blog on former Lafayette High standout Devin Figaro transferring to UL:
There will be more in Saturday's TDA:
Former Lafayette High and Tulane wide receiver Devin Figaro has decided to transfer to UL, his dad Kevin confirmed on Friday.
Figaro asked for and was granted his release from Tulane in the spring and began the process of transferring to UL on Friday.
"He just applied for his transcript to be sent (from Tulane to UL)," said Figaro, who played college basketball at UL before being drafted in the fourth round of the 1981 NBA draft by Atlanta. "Next week, we're going to probably go to UL and register for fall."
Figaro will have to sit out this season due to NCAA transfer rules and would be eligible for two seasons at UL.
"He likes Hud (UL first-year coach Mark Hudspeth)," Figaro said. "I think Hud's spreading the offense and that falls into what Devin does, as far as opening it up.
"I think that was a big factor in him deciding to come to UL."
In two seasons with Tulane, Figaro caught 23 passes for 302 yards and a touchdown. Prior to Tulane, Figaro played ta Hargrave Military Academy and had 25 catches for 640 yards and nine touchdowns.
He was a three-year starter in football and a four-year letterman in basketball at Lafayette High. He was named first-team All-District as a senior after hauling in 28 catches for 678 yards and five TDs.
