It was the aTm game for me. I brought some A&M fans I worked with and there just wasn't ever an atmosphere at Cajun Field like the one at the end of that game. The funny thing is... and I am not one to be easily impressed by momentary events... I seriously thought there was no way we weren't going to launch football full throttle and throw everything we had into it. Our top dog felt like it was a pinnacle and just decided to keep it that way.
People that don't like our "money games"... wait until Hud upsets one of these programs... and he will... you'll be very glad we took these guys on. It just isn't that impossible to stay competitive and slip in a win on some of them... when your program is seriously confident.
Otherwise... and they were not at Cajun Field... the "electricity" type games to me were the ones with Tulane in the Dome (both Mitchell and Delhomme era). Technically, they were "home games". More Cajun fans piled in with a good time on the brain than I've seen in a long, long time.
The Tulane games in the dome were my absolute best memories from when I was in college. That first win against them was an unbelievable feeling.
Just now seeing this thread, so I'll throw my .02 in late.
How'd I do????
- McNeese in 2007
- WKU for HC in 2010
- North Alabama in 1997....nuff said there.
- MT for HC in 2006 when coming back home with a 4-2 record and a HUGE road win @ Houston and @ FAU on Nat'l TV.
- Houston in 2003 when the rain started right as the band was beginning the Nat'l Anthem and they never made it to the end it was raining so hard.
- 1997-2000
For atmosphere, the Texas A&M game and the game against Southern were probably tops. We'd list McNeese in this category had we not laid an egg.
I don't know if anything will ever beat the 82 game against Northeast.
The Mitchell finale and the game against KState would be right behind in my opinion.
I didn't see the Roy Henry game against Tech, but if I had, my guess is I would list it as well.
Troy 05'- Field Goal, Overtime, Homecoming. Yeah, booooooooyyyyyyy
I also remember the 1976 game against Arkansas State and the game against San Jose State with Jeff Garcia at quarterback and we had Orlando Thomas at safety.
After reading 1 & 2, I have proceeded to start drinking heavily lol. WKU has been the only game I've ever walked out early on. The best game I've seen was K-State, and the most enjoyable game was FIU for homecoming in '08 when Fenroy reached 1000 yards for the 4th straight season. Plus I think its the only HC game we've won in my 4 years at UL (sigh).
I am rather fond of the 2002 UAB game.
That game told me there was no way Baldwin left Bustle with a bad team. Unfortunately he left him with a bad program.

I know this thread was all about reminiscing... but the best game every played at Cajun Field needs to be in our immediate future... a bunch of times over. I hope everyone agrees... we haven't had enough "best games ever played at Cajun Field".
