"Spurlin will be relying heavily on returning point guard Maurice Barksdale as his floor general. “He really needs to take the lead for our team,”says Spurlin.“He ’s played a lot.He ’s the head of the body.” Barksdale,a 5-11 sophomore from Baltimore,Md.,averaged 15.1 points per game
last season.He led the team in scoring with 393 points,shooting 51.5 percent from the floor and 70.7 percent from the free-throw line. He was credited with 97 assists and 44 steals. 7.9 points per game."

Ron Brisco has a post on the delphi board that says Barksdale will not make a decision till friday. A lot of times he is way off but it sounds credible.

Maurice "B-MORE KAREFUL" Barksdale will sign with ULL. He signed the letter of intent last night.

Maurice had a late rush from University of Maryland, but he likes the coaching staff, ULL school-campus and the dome. He liked the talk of the NCAA and U of Maryland can't talk about the NCAA. B-MORE KAREFUL has a crafty handle and likes to hit the open man for a good shot. He knows the game and learns his teammates favorite spots. People in Baltimore call Maurice a poor mans Jason kidd. He also steals the ball a lot for the other teams guards, averaged 3.0 steals in juco and 5.5 steals in high school. Oh he made the honor roll (3.6 gpa) the last term at blinn junior college.

If the overnight report is true I would say "good catch" he went from 13th in the league his first year to 2nd overall in his second year. A similar performance at the upper level and watch out Big Dance.
