Codi Runyan knows enough to pay attention to veterans.

The freshman from Port Barre has done it all season, especially recently as the starting shortstop for Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun softball program.

Now, with the No. 13 Cajuns boarding a bus this morning for Bowling Green, Ky., and the Sun Belt Conference Tournament at Western Kentucky, Runyan is listening again.

"I've never been there," Runyan said. "I'm a little nervous, but not too nervous. It's the same teams we've been facing for the last month or two.

"I'm trying to read how they're feeling," she added of her teammates. "They're not nervous, just excited. We're trying to do the same things right, just step it up a notch."
